The hotel is located on the Gran Via just a few minutes walk from the Plaza de Espana. We stayed in two Standard Rooms with Views. The views of the Gran Via and sunset were very pretty. Breakfast was very good, and the service in the hotel was excellent. The bathroom (with a bath) was a little on the small side, but functional.

Hotel's Favorite
Good size room and bathroom. We got upgraded from standard to deluxe which was very nice. We got rooms 6606 and 6607. The rooms have a small balcony facing the side street. We had 2 rooms for 4 nights, so I guess they felt we deserved something better. However there was no body lotion provided. The hand wash bottle was also a screw top which meant opening and closing each time we used it. Very weird. The shower bath has a short glass swing door which hardly kept the water from splashing onto the floor. They had a euro 9 per person per day for breakfast. The breakfast was excellent in Europe for this class of hotel. A wide choice of cold cuts, cheese, eggs, breads and juices. Definitely well worth the price! The hotel is at an excellent location on the Grand Via with restaurants and plenty of shops. A safe, room slippers and iron and board are provided. Though the bathroom has very little counter space. A 3 star level hotel as the lobby is small and has several steps with no porter to help with big luggage. Both lifts work on one button so you can't operate one if the other is full but not moved up yet. We actually had to ask the people outside to not press the buttons till we moved! However given the location and quality of rooms, I still recommend the hotel.

the hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. Beatrice was very helpful at the Check in. Thank you for the nice welcome. We would definetely come back. Also, the location was perfect, very central - everything was quite near from us. Thank you also for the upgrade - the view to the Gran Via was incredible. I have nothing negative to comment about the hotel - everything was great.

Customer service is shocking in this hotel. We were told about a power and water outage in the hotel, even though the outage occurred 5 hours previous to this. They then informed us that they would move us to another associated hotel which they said was a 5 star and superior to the hotel on plaza espana. This was a clear and blatant lie on our arrival and seeing the hotel. As well as this there was zero communication between hotels. Our day was ruined all due to a lack of common sense and common decency.

When we arrived at the hotel, I noticed there were some stairs leading to the front desk. I also noticed there was a stair lift, but there wasn't anyone to help you with the luggage, either a bell boy or a concierge. I am not sure if that's the case in every 'by Meliá' property. We were greeted at noon by two very nice receptionists who checked us in. They asked for our credit card information for additional charges, and gave us the keys. That was a stark contrast with a night shift front desk agent. On our second evening, after a hard day at the Tourist Trade Show, I told my coleague I would ask the receptionist if he could programme my wake up call. As soon as I showed my room number written on my key card holder, he didn't even say 'Buenas noches', and told me rudely I didn't pay for my room, and I should pay for it right away. I told him I didn't know anything about it, and that every hotel has a different policy, but no one told us to pay in advance, one day before. We proceded to pay. The issue is not about paying in advance or at the end of our stay but how he said so; He was very disrespectful. He could have said 'Sorry, there is a misunderstanding concerning your bill. Our hotel policy requires you to pay in advance'. We felt clearly mistreated, as if we were the kind of people who would sneak out of the hotel without paying. I resist to think it had anything to do with our nationality. The bathroom was okay except for the worn out shower door seal strip which made it impossible for the shower door to close, and the water spilled outside the bathtub every time I had a shower. I noticed that a table and a wooden door on one of the furnitures needed some maintenance or replacement. The heating system was too weak I slept with an extra blanket. I didn't touch the control knob in order to avoid a penalty for tampering with it, as it is usually the case in most hotels. My boss stayed in a warmer room. I'm thankful the house keeper didn't clean the room as long as the 'do not disturb' sign was hung on the door knob. The buffet breakfast was really good, and the staff was very accomodating to my boss's request to cook her eggs a little bit more. One suggestion is to put the churros next or close to the Nutella dispenser, and the tomato sauce closer to the toast and Iberian ham section, so people familiar to spreading the sauce on toast can explain this delicious mix to people not used to it. The nutella dispenser was empty one day and the Nutella dispenser nozzle was dirty a couple of times when the dining room just opened. I hope all the negative issues I outlined will be adressed by the hotel management.

Probably one of the worst Hotels I have had to stay in Madrid zero customer service, dreadful tired rooms, no room service except from another hotel. Old TVs and Noisy structure. Tourist hotel only. Stay only if desperate and nothing else available. Room service comes from another hotel COD. Ordering does not work. Asked to h r tv repaired and a maid who spoke zero English arrived. Terrible customer r service my worst Madrid Hotel experience

Brief stay before returning to the States. The lobby was tastfully decorated, but the rooms are still in need of similar improvements. The air con did not seem up to the task which was difficult to ignore with 100+ degree temps. One additional note - the lobby can only be accessed by stairs. I believe I saw a machine to assist wheelchairs but others with mobility issues may wish to look elsewhere.

Excellent location for central Madrid, large modern hotel, we had deluxe rooms, very spacious king sized beds, extremely comfortable. Breakfast very busy but well organised. The 360° roof top bar is a big draw for non residents so is extremely busy but we always got a table no problem when we went up and there were 6 of us. 12 minute walk to Central area down the Gran via and it looks out on to a park with a short walk to the Royal Palace. Had a really good stay.

This was excellent value for money at just over 60€ a night. It was centrally situation. We had an excellent room with facilities I’d expect in a much more expensive hotel. We had parking at 12€ a night which was essential in a capital city. The staff were helpful. It was clean and efficiently updated daily.
