We only stayed one night before flying back after going to the south of Spain. It was okay for our limited time there. Good location, smallish/okay sized room, decent bedding and outlets. There was zero view but again, we were out most of the time so not a big deal. Highly recommend the Granier bakery down the street.

Reading other reviews and with what I experienced is luck of the draw on the room which then gives how the stay went. Our room was literally right where the elevators open up. Room was small. The heating / air conditioning / fan was not working at all. Bed was okay. Complimentary breakfast was okay.

Basic but brilliant hotel in a perfect location, just off Via Grand and 10 minutes walk to Sol. The bed was comfy. Air conditioning good. WiFi ok. Breakfast was good with enough variety. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to travellers to Madrid and would look at returning in the future.

My wife, daughter and myself stayed here for 3 nights last week and we have to say the hotel was excellent in our opinion. We arrived early at 12 and our room was ready which was great to be able to drop off bags, the room whilst a little dated and small had a balcony which gave us extra space and it was very clean and suited us for our needs and the bathroom was very nice. The breakfast is good and plentiful with good produce. Location is excellent just a 2 minute walk to the main street with busses and taxis on our door step and also various metro stops very near. We cannot fault this hotel and special mention to the staff who were brilliant throughout our stay and for a city break in a brilliant city the hotel is excellent.

We stayed here our last night of our holiday. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, although the decor was a bit dated. We chose the hotel for its location, which was fine. A bit disappointed that booking.com did not give us the room that we had selected. The room had two single beds instead of a double bed as requested and indicated in our reservation confirmation. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel, but ate in one of the local shops next door.

A decent hotel close to Madrid city centre and metro stations. Clean rooms, good prices, ok breakfast. Plenty of restaurants, bars, tapas bars and shops close by. About 30 min from the airport, which is easily accessible by the metro system. Use the Cabify app if you want to use a taxi. It works out a bit cheaper over the app.

Hotel Sterling is in a good location - central, easy to walk to lots of places and close to the metro. But, although reception staff were friendly and helpful, the rest of the experience was less good. We were a group of people who were in Madrid to watch Davis Cup and made a number of separate bookings. Three of us booked rooms for single occupancy on two bookings. Both bookings were cancelled by the hotel/booking.com on unexplained credit card reasons. On trying to rebook, the weekend part of our trip was no longer available and the price for the days still bookable had increased considerably. We did rebook for the days available (to be with our other friends who were all sharing rooms) but the standard of rooms was very variable. My room was a cupboard - a friend who looked at it said it was like a caravan! Breakfast was poor. On the plus side, the rooms were really clean, the showers were great with lots of hot water but it's not a hotel I would go back to unless I had no other choice.

We realize it is downtown Madrid however it could use some updating. Lobby furniture dirty and uncomfortable. It needs to be replaced. Great location. Breakfast could use a few more items. Close to food stores and transportation.
