So this hotel was booked for a business trip to Bologna. This is located close to the airport but a little bit away from the town. The country looks ideal from the outside and the reception staff were friendly. However the rooms were a bit lack lustre. Heating didn't really work and was quite cool in the evenings and a lot of noise in the corridors, as no staff actually in the accommodation, this wasn't seen too. Breakfast was a slight inconvenience as you have to walk over to the Savoia Regency Hotel. Perfectly fine when it's a lovely pleasant morning... dreadful when it's raining. Seemed a perfectly good area at the country house for breakfast.. but didn't actually know what it was used for! Would stay again.. of nothing closer to town

Day 1: the room was infested with some kind of beetle. when I told them at the front desk, the attendant was like...we know about it but nothing we can do they must be hibernating in the rafters.. Didnt offer any solution, didnt offer other room. just elaborated on the situation. ..and said sorry. Day2: entered the room after work. the beetles got so bad that they were on my hanged cloths and crawling on my suitcase, and in the bath tube... immediately went to the front desk and complained again. Attendant said they would spray the room tomorrow while I am at work. Day 3: got to the hotel after work and saw that no beetles were to be seen. They cleaned them all away and sprayed some kind of bug spray. I had the pleasure of spending the night breathing a agitating bug spray. Day 4 check out. I am now thinking...do I have some in my luuggage? did they lay eggs on my cloths? my baggage? Will I be takingn these China beetles home with me.......? In conclusion, if you like the idea of having the real "country House" experience... China beetles and all,.. this is the place for you. For me....never again. Oh yes, almost forgot. The rate of this Hotel is way over priced. I could have stayed at a Hilton for this nightly rate..... well OK, maybe an additional charge for the beetles ......

We stayed in hotel for two nights during our trip in northern Italy. Hotel is located outside city centre, so you need public transport to go to the historic centre. Sleep quality was excellent, hotel is quit and the bed was very comfortable. Also our room and bathroom were clear and staff clean them on daily basis. The only negative I found was the small size of our double room. A double room should be bigger and more spacious.

Despite day time temperature in the high 20s the air conditioning was not running as according to the grumpy guy in the back office it’s not yet summer despite the outdoor pool which is only open in the summer months being open. The suggestion was to open windows but with the busy main road and the tangenziale both roaring away constantly right next to the hotel, it was a choice of not sleeping due to the stiflingly hot room or not sleeping due to the noise. Staff were indifferent and attributed the problem to a sensitivity to noise although having lived on the flight path to Heathrow for a decade, I think not. To add to the discomfort, every time someone used the lift, the noise of the mechanism was loudly audible in the room and that went on til 2am! “Country House Hotel” implies it’s a quiet setting, it’s a complete misnomer. The write up from the hotel itself advertises a “quiet” style with air conditioning, neither is accurate. Savoia’s Customer Service say we were given the most beautiful room (Suite 205) and also that it’s not possible to have a quieter room. It was an altogether uncomfortable, hot, highway hell of an overnight stay!

This is not like the savoy in the states, completely different brand. The room is good, decent size and clean. They speak perfect for English Downside is the really, really, really thin walls. If the neighbor has a normal conversation, uses the toilet or puts a bag down, you will hear it. The AC stopt in the evening. Could be reset by the reception. But did it again in the middle of the niet. Really weard. Breakfast is 300 meter walk to another hotel. If you have an option, don’t use it. It is way to crowded and not what you would expect in Italy. And the staff was uninterested and really efficient. They rub the breakfast counter at such a high speed that you don’t have time to think about what you want. Coffee from a vending machine. No restaurants in the direct surroundings. Mcdonalds is 1 km away just a major supermarket

I came there late night. I was greeted by a super friendly staff, magically cozy environment and the sound of a thousand crickets. We got a room on the second floor. The elevator upstairs was old and dated but I was carrying luggage and a sleepy child so I went for it. My room was large, it was clean but I could have done without the heavy red carpet. There is a thin line between dated and old classic style and this room was dancing on that line. However the overall environment, the outside area, parking, friendly staff made up for a lot of that. So if you don't plan to spend a lot of waking hours inside the room it is good. And yes the breakfast was amazing! The endless selection of food and the whole breakfast area, We sat outside for an hour just enjoying the surroundings. Loved it. So it the rooms get a bit of a facelift its a sure 5 star.

There are very few hotels where I wish there was a negative number to rate them by....but this is one such experience. Clearly it's popular so I am perplexed as to why. This is not a 4 star hotel it doesn't even deserve a one star, let me start with the positives, the gardens are nice, the gardens are nice. Now for the negatives, it is situated out of town almost on the edge of the freeway, inside not so bad outside noisy, the rooms are spacious, there are no European style power points so forget using adaptors, the heating/cooling is controlled by reception our room was a balmy 26 degrees the heating/cooling was not turned on, the bathroom was like a sauna with water running down the walls from condensation, the towel heater was off controlled 'by the boss' the reception told us, there is no tea and coffee making facilities, no drawers for storage, the beds are like sleeping on boards, the pillows are flat and hard, the door banged all night with other guests coming in and out, there was no asaistance offered with luggage, we tried to book the restaurant at 8pm only having just arrived to be told no 7:30pm to find the reataurant was empty until we left at 9pm, no advice was given as to how to get to the restaurant which is in the neighbouring hotel. Seriously this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at and believe me I've stayed as some pretty terrible ones! If this is the quality of Bolonga hotels give it a miss and stay in the delightful Parma.

First, this is not a typical tourist hotel - more of a conference/business hotel. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, but be aware that you are quite some distance from the Piazza Maggiore and the historic center of Bologna. However, it's right on the ring road around Bologna, so it's easy to access by car, has secure parking, and makes it easy to get to other non-centrally located points of interest, like the Ducati factory and museum. The rooms are small but adequate and clean. However, the bathrooms are extraordinarily small, with not even a soap dish in the tiny shower. My husband and I are not large people and it was difficult for us! The air conditioning does not always work well. On the plus side, the sister hotel across the street has a good fitness center, pool, and lovely grounds as well. You can also catch a bus just down the block for 1.50 Euro that takes you directly to the historic center, dropping you off at the Neptune fountain. A taxi will set you back about 20 euro, so not cheap. The breakfast was average, but earned points in our estimation by having a machine that made fresh orange juice! Staff were not overly friendly but helpful.

My boyfriend and I were travelling around Italy for my birthday. My parents were staying in the sister hotel to the country house a couple of days before. They organised a balloon, prosecco for my arrival. They spoke with reception at the country house more than once to check my room and to see if it was possible to pay for an upgrade. My parents were assured by the receptionist that they would upgrade us to a suite. We arrived in Bologna on my actual birthday, the young guy on reception made no comment. When I asked about my room I was told I had the best one in the hotel. Well it was shocking to say the least. It’s reeked of smoke, (even my air fresher didn’t touch it) the so called shower and tub combination was a caravan size corner shower. I had bugs on my bed and broken hooks. The receptionist said that they were fully booked. Due to a large business conference. The problem with this hotel is the cater only for conference and business people. They do nothing to accommodate guest travelling for holiday. On check out we were told it was our fault for not going to reception in the morning and having a do not disturb sign on our door. I have no idea what they were planning to do. The hotel advised us that all rooms in the hotel are non smoking. This is not the case. We returned to our room to find the guest Next door hanging out the window smoking.

Response from savoiahotels, Proprietario at Savoia Hotel Country House
Responded Oct 9, 2018
Dear Mrs. Fabiana, Greetings from Savoia Hotel Country House. We would like to thank you for taking the time to review our property on TripAdvisor and provide readers with such a detailed account of what we understand was, ultimately, a stay that fell short of your expectations. Nonetheless, we would also like to take this opportunity to set the record straight, so to speak, and address the issues you have raised in your review. Firstly, we would like to point out that, despite your original booking being for an Economy room, management did decide to offer a complimentary upgrade to a standard (hence larger and nicer) room featuring a shower, as this was a special request that came along with said booking. Now, I am sure that seasoned and experienced traveler such as yourself is perfectly aware that complimentary upgrades are very often associated with the room category booked. As such, you can appreciate that a complimentary upgrade from an Economy room to a Suite is not only highly unlikely but should also not be expected. In addition, our property was indeed fully booked on those dates and this made it impossible for us offer any alternative room, which we would have gladly shown, had there been any actual availability. What we did suggest was for you to swap rooms with your parents, who were staying at our sister’s property across the street, the Savoia Hotel Regency. Unfortunately, your parents did not find this solution feasible. Moreover, a complimentary bottle of Prosecco was also offered by our management as a gesture of goodwill to try and improve, at least in small part, our stay. Concerning your claim on the alleged lack of cleanliness in our rooms, which I should mention are all non- smoking, I can assure that we are dedicated to utmost rigorous cleaning standards, so far as employ special Ozone generators which filter out any lingering smells. However, regardless of our willingness to service each and every guest room on a daily basis, we must also respect our guest’s need for privacy and thus, whenever a Do Not Disturb sign is left on the door, it is therefore taken to the letter and we instruct our members of staff to refrain for entering such room. Please rest assured that this a standard practice within the hospitality industry. All in all, We are sorry to hear that our best efforts were evidently not sufficient to make your stay a memorable one on this occasion, but we also still hope that what happened will not prevent you from visiting us in the future. Warmest Regards, Giovanni Trombetti The management Savoia@savoia.eu
