My wife and I stayed at this hotel from February 22-24, 2024 and planned to return on February 26, 2024, but we did not return on the 26th. This is because we were treated badly, far from the ratings listed on Expedia and Tripadvisor. For example, I reserved a parking space in advance. Because they sent me a message saying "If you need to park your car, we inform you that there is a private parking which costs 22,00€ and it can be booked in advance." However, when we arrived at the hotel there was no parking available. I protested to the woman at the front desk. She gave me the disingenuous excuse that "our parking lot can only hold 13 cars, so we have no choice". Even though it was the hotel that told me to reserve a parking space. We were angry but still had no choice but to check in. At this point, I didn't know we had such a bad room. I had contacted the hotel via Expedia message prior to my stay. I had asked the hotel to provide me with slippers. But no slippers were provided in the room. Of course, that is not the only problem. We booked a Superior Room and the only view from the window was of the parking lot. And the light in the bathroom was out and emitting high frequency all the time. The light bulb in the closet was out and the bedside phone was broken and we could not even call the city. We could not stand this terrible room and complained again once we confirmed that the phone was broken, but they would not take us up on it. They made a restaurant reservation for us instead, but that should not be a fundamental solution. Why did we have to put up with it even though we were paying for it? Please imagine the absurdity of this. After we checked out this hotel, we figured we could never return to this hotel on the 26th as planned. I contacted Expedia customer service regarding my cancellation on the 26th and the problems with my stay from the 22nd to the 24th. They apparently negotiated with the hotel and asked for some refund, but the hotel would not give any refund and would not admit their fault. The hotel's argument was so one-sided that the Expedia team even stated that the hotel was a scammer. At least we have never been treated this badly. So we thought hard about it. As a result, we hypothesized that they have a habit of giving bad rooms and ignoring our requests as soon as they find out that Asians like us are staying there. By the way we also stayed at UNAHOTELS Napoli on February 15-17 and 18-19, 2024. This hotel was very nice, both the facilities and the staff worked very well. Therefore, we can recognize that this issue is a problem arising from the system of UNAHOTELS Bologna. If I were the manager, I would replace the management of this hotel, because otherwise, I expect that there will be more travelers who will become victims again. Racism is not tolerated worldwide.

Dear Guest, We are deeply sorry to learn about the issues you encountered during your stay and wish to express our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. Regarding the parking issue, we apologise for the inconvenience caused. We are committed to improving communication with our guests to ensure such situations do not recur in the future. If we were informed of your dissatisfaction with the room, our staff would solve any problem or offer you an alternative solution as changing your room. However, we must assert with utmost seriousness that accusations of racism are profoundly unfair and contrary to the values we represent. Our corporate policy is built on respect and inclusion, without distinction of race, national origin, or any other personal characteristic. We are firmly dedicated to providing a warm and professional welcome to all our guests. The baseless and misleading claims of racist behaviour by our staff are severely damaging to our hotel's reputation and contradict our ethical code and values charter. On this matter, we reserve the right to take legal action to protect our integrity and that of our employees. We invite the guest to contact us directly to further discuss this issue, hoping to find common ground and clarify any misunderstandings. Our main goal is to ensure that all our guests have a positive and satisfying experience. Additionally, we are equally committed to defending the rights and work ethics of our collaborators and upholding the foundational values of our company, where accusations of racism are regarded by us as false and malicious insults. Writing a review to describe a service is within your full rights, but undermining our reputation is a serious act of intimidation and defamation that we firmly reject and will address in the appropriate forums. Yours sincerely, Andrea Concu UNAHOTELS Bologna Centro Management

The room we stayed in wasn’t very clean, visible dusts everywhere in bathroom. Dark spots in shower. For the 4 days we stayed there, the cleaning personnel didn’t seem to do much during daily housekeeping. The room we were assigned to was problematic: 1. The door lock didn’t work properly, it took MANY efforts to lock or unlock it. Very unsafe for the guests. 2. No heat. The thermostat didn’t function. It stayed at 11 Celsius (52 Fahrenheit) no matter what you do. 3. The hotel room phone didn’t work, no signal. Wanting to talk to the front desk about above 2 problems, we had to go down to the front desk. We asked to change to another room, we got it. But it wasn’t easy. The front desk staffs were not very helpful or friendly. When we finally settled down, a hour had passed. It was just a waste of time. Later, around 5:30pm, we asked for a electric kettle. The answer was: Yes someone will bring it to your room right away. So we waited there. But we didn’t get it until 2 hours later, and it was after we made 5 more phone calls to remind them. The reason for the long delay? We were told later that the particular staff hadn’t started his/her shift yet. On good thing to say about this hotel: the breakfast buffet was good, offering many selections of hot food, cold cuts, and pastries.

This very modern hotel is located about a 2 minutes walk from the main train station and 20 minutes from the main city square. Our room was quite large with modern appointments. The bathroom was also large with nice amenities. The WiFi was consistent and reliable but it had no password protection at all. The Queen bed was comfortable. The room was very quiet with no corridor or street noise. The staff was helpful and friendly. When we noticed there was no coffee making supplies in the room we asked at reception and they were provided. Nice personal touch! The room was clean, bright and well lit. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of foods available. It is a busy hotel given its excellent location. We would highly recommend this hotel.

I took my daughter to Bologna during October half term and we booked a room at Unahotels Bologna Centro due to its convenient location across the road from the railway station (we used Bologna as our base to travel around northern Italy). The location didn't disappoint. Less than five minutes from reception to train station. What they don't warn you about when you book your train ticket though is that if you're off on one of the fast trains, these all depart from new platforms in the underground that aren't easy to find as a novice and on the first occasion we nearly missed our train despite leaving the hotel 15 minutes before departure. That has nothing to do with the hotel though. The hotel itself if modern and clean with some really nice and quirky design details. We were disappointed to have been given a double bed despite requesting two singles and the chap in the reception when we went to ask didn't understand what we meant, so I decided to simply accept the room. The air conditioning either didn't work or was turned off as it was October, which made the room quite stifling during the afternoon. But we slept with an open window and that cooled the room down to a pleasant temperature. Our only real complaint was the lack places to plug in our chargers. We travelled with European adapters and there was only one place in the room where this could be plugged in and on our last morning there was a spark coming out of it as I unplugged our chargers. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped, but the shower screen way too small, meaning I caused a minor flood when I had my first shower. There's also no anti-slipping mat/tape in the bath, which made it quite a challenge to get in and out of the shower safely as the bathtub was rather large and deep. Our price included a breakfast buffet which was perfectly fine. Not the greatest selection I've ever seen, but enough variety to keep us happy. Overall a pleasant hotel, with friendly staff and I'd be happy to stay there again.

Distance from the train station is perfect! The reception is very good in responding to our needs. The room size is ok, bed is ok, bathroom is big. Breakfast spread is quite good, started at 7.00am. The WiFi speed is very fast ! Location is quite strategic, walking distance to few tourist attractions.

A barely three star hotel masquerading as four star. The plus points : decent room, comfortable beds, no outside noises. THAT IS IT ! Now all the failings ..... Don't believe anything the website says . The only food you will get here is the breakfast . There is no restaurant or cafe and no room service. You need to go out for every lunch or dinner or even a decent cup of coffee. They so have a little lounge area on the ground floor, where they set out free coffee and tea with a machine... but this is ONLY after 12 noon and they make sure they close the setup by about 5 PM. And horror of horrors, even after repeated requests they cannot keep any milk to go with your coffee or tea. Not even a sachet of milk powder or a little rub of milk. If you dont like your beverage black, you can lump it ! I did try to make coffee once and there was considerable hissing and spitting and a staff member came running from the bar to tell me the water was over. No instructions about this near the coffee machine, how is a customer supposed to know what to do ? The breakfast ... yes many items to choose from but all average taste . The coffee quality varies from day to day. One out of three days was excellent. To add insult to injury the housekeeping staff faithully leave a little card with a QR code to scan the menu.... the card is itself inedible .. so you can scan and read the menu for food which cannot be provided WOW The room has no kettle or iron , leave alone tea bags. There is one complimentary half a litre tetrapak of drinking water kept in the room for your entire stay . If you need more drinking water pay more or bring your own from outside. We had bought and left a mineral water bottle with about a fourth full , but this had been taken away by the housekeeping staff when we were away ! The rooms are supposedly air conditioned, but was like a furnace when we checked in. We are told the Government bans air conditioning after 15th October, and the heating was on. Fortunately we kept the window open every night for fresh air and comfort . ( This could well be a Government regulation , not sure ) The body wash / shower gel in the bathroom is highly diluted. One of the worst front offices in terms of customer service. Disinterest in responding to customer, and no knowledge of even basic facts like where is the bus stop for the Hop on Hop off service. I explained the menu issues to the front office and requested the young lady to convey to her manager. I said I would be very happy to speak to the manager myself, and the response ? "Oh he may talk to you if he has the time and is not busy ..." No one did of course A charmless hotel that does not really care........ mediocrity rules the place .... But I am grateful to the bar tender who did try to help about milk ... he did not succeed either ...

Dear ArunRatnam, We thank you for sharing your feedback. We are deeply sorry to read your feedback as during your 4 days stay we did not received the same information that you are writing now. As far as all our staff remember, you was grateful to them during in hotel. It’s a pity that our staff effort during your stay was not appreciated anymore as we surprisingly see on this review and it is also a pity to have received all your complaints just out of the hotel. Our front desk staff would do their utmost to assist our guests, everytime. We received from you 2 suggestions/queries about hotel services, our front desk staff gave you a reply during in hotel, but we would like to detailed it to Tripadvisor users as below: 1. Coffee station: During your 4 days stay, we all staff remember your suggestion about milk in the free corner that hotel provides to our guests and they informed you the following day that your suggestion would be considered for the future but in any case we needed time to adapt the coffee machine. 2. Free bottle of water: At check in we inform you about 1 free bottle of water, the following day you request for more free bottles of welcome water, but we informed you that this was complimentary offered by hotel and was not included. Our housekeeping staff does not throw any guest items unless they are inside the garbage. Even a bottle with 2 fingers of water. We were not informed about this from you during in hotel. We confirm you that Bologna municipality as many other big cities in Europe has regulations about saving energy and reduce pollution. There is a period and a maximum range to turn on and use air conditioning and heating. This regulation changes based on the year but can be consulted on the comune.bologna.it website. For similar reasons (middays, weekends, ...) Hop on hop off service change timetable and routes. This is the reason we have not timetable printed at front desk and we need to check on the Bologna touristic info website for any updates. We remind you that our customer service provides you the room type prefered on the floor requested and they check you in before check in time. It feels always terrible when a guest is not satisfied. In this particularly situation this review is aimed at creating a harmful image as it is not connected with the real experience in our hotel. Best regards, UNAHOTELS Bologna Centro Management

We were happy when we entered our room but it was down hill from there. They turn off the AC on 10-15 and there is no air movement in the room. If you open the window, it sounds like NYC. Internet does not work after 10:00 pm. Rude staff. Don’t stay at this hotel if you want comfort.

Breakfast was great with good selection and lovely staff doing an amazingly patient job with the "never seen food before" guests! Many thanks.
