Conveniently located in central Bergamo bassa offers a quiet and comfy accommodation from where it is easy to visit and get around the city.
Federico and Irene, the owners, are friendly and thoughtful guys, keen to take care of your needs (breakfast, room type...) since the moment you get in touch with them. I have already spent several nights there on business trips over the past years and will definitely go back there again in the future. Would recommend it to couples or families too, as they have very cosy and clean new rooms, and great sense of hospitality. Breakfast, both sweet and savory, is absolutely delicious!

Very comfortable and organized. We stayed for one night and we arrived late. The late check-in was perfectly organized even if there is no one at the moment. We have to check out early too and they give us an amazing takeaway breakfast. Thanks!

All the other reviews about this place are true! We stayed in the hotel rather than an apartment and had a lovely room with all mod cons. As many people have stated, Irene wins the award for Customer Service-she was so eager to please right from the moment we arrived, including recommending a couple of great local restauarants for dinner. Breakfast is an experience in itself with delicious homemade delicacies. Bergamo itself is a beautiful town on 2 levels and a trip up to old town on the funicular is a must. Milan is 1 hour away by a regular local train.

The property's owner is a very rude, unreliable, and unpleasant person.
We booked a room in the property for one night and we asked the property if we can leave our luggage in a safe place before check-in time. The property accepted our request with a warm message.
When we can to the property two hours before the check-in, no one was in the property and the reception, so we were standing in the middle of the street with our luggage and no safe place to store it.
After a few calls, the property's owner answered us and claimed that one of the employees did a mistake and we can't leave our luggage in a safe place since the reception is empty until check-in time (it is NOT a hotel, it is more like an apartment building). During the conversation, she was not nice at all and she did not care at all...
She had no solution for us except to leave our luggage in a public space in the building and she offered us to cancel the reservation with a *full refund* since we already paid for the room via a known supplier. We decided to cancel the booking and find another place to stay.
BUT when the supplier contacted the owner in order to cancel the booking, she only offered a *half refund*. We tried to contact the owner, but she did not answer us...
We feel that she scammed us! Avoid this place if you care about warm hospitality and reliable staff!

We chose this hotel because of its central location in Bergamo and its proximity to Bergamo Airport (15 mins by Bus/Taxi). What a find. The hotel is spotlessly clean and all of the furniture and fittings are to a high standard. Irene and her staff were very friendly and accommodating and provided us with any information we wanted for travelling around the area.
Fully recommend taking the continental breakfast which consisted of fresh hams, cheeses, breads and fruits from the local area. I would have no hesitation on stopping here again. Thank you to Irene and her excellent staff.

Just back from a 5 night stay at this superb hotel, fantastic location with lovely rooms which were beautifully decorated and really clean, all topped off by great staff who do an amazing job and are so friendly. We went with friends and we all had a great holiday, thank you Irene and everyone else at the Castellana.

Great location, about a 10-minute-walk to the funiculario or an easy 30-minute-uphill walk to the città alta. Breakfast is meager and I'd recommend not getting breakfast but instead eating in one of the restaurants close by or buying something in the supermarket.

Check-in was easy although we had to call because there was no one at reception when we arrived. Rose is a gem and very helpful and friendly.

Parking available upon request a few doors down in a courtyard for 10€/night. Train station is about a 15-minute walk away.

Room was clean except for the two cigarette buds left in the toilet which made the whole bathroom smell like stałe cigarette smoke. That's what makes me take one star away from the experience. One flush would have done it and we probably wouldn't have noticed.

The hotel situated in the center of the city. 15 min walk to heart of the old town. Rooms are clean, big and cosy decorated. But!!!! Very-very hot inside. You feel like in sauna. And it’s not possible to regulate it. The only option is to open the window but with the small kids it’s not possible for the whole night.

Stayed here with husband and daughter in a suite. It is a fantastic hotel and the location is brilliant, within easy walking distance of everything. Excellent and very knowledgeable staff who are more than happy to help. Beautiful rooms that are immaculately kept. There is a hardback book in each room giving every bit of information you could need and more. Can't wait to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for suite 1. It is huge, as is the mezzanine.

• We came and the apartment was not checked again for functionality. We had to do safety check of electricity and other equipment.
• The electricity is in terrible shape. The whole sockets (many of them) are hanging out of the wall so you can easy touch the not insulated 220 V wire under current. We were told to move furniture in front of the sockets to prevent my kid to touch it (many of them are out). So I had to move the furniture that evening in front of all hanging sockets (after 78 hours drive). It took three days to send a guy, who is no electrician and worked with it under current. My wife had explain him to switch off the fuse. He glued the sockets with tape to the wall. Not all of them are repaired till now. I think this is simply no go from safety perspective.
• The payment: I was told I have to pay during first weekend. I was in the hotel two times and none was there. Immediately on Monday there was set of emails with copy on many colleagues. This was really embarrassing. The email was literally saying there is everything for me prepared including an invoice and I did not come. So I came in the evening I was somehow tricked to pay immediately with my card. But I did not get any bill or invoice being told it will be ready in two days. So why all the embarrassing emails to the work with copy on other colleagues, when it is not prepared. I had to leave without an invoice poorer about 1,5 k€
• We had a big argument about my expensive race bike. I was told there is an Italian law, the bike cannot be in apartment. Ok I would understand. But instead of telling me. The owner sent a people, who with a big pressure on my wife took it from the apartment and carried it somewhere else. While telling to my wife that we will be moving at that day. So my wife was really stressed. The bike is my belonging and the owner cannot simply take it. The owner should discuss before with me.
• A door of furniture simple were fallen off and many furniture and closable.
• Shower did not work. I had to ask for repair. They came to repair it at 8 pm, when my kid goes to sleep and started to argue with me.
• The accessibility with stroller is really bad. We have to carry it through stairs.
• The owner simply makes the rules – there is no pdf with rules. Bike, payment etc.
• My colleagues had to spent a lot of time discuss with provider.
