This was a lousy experience. The room was 29 degrees - impossibly hot to sleep - and despite informing reception no resolution was possible because the air conditioning had been turned off by maintenance. Prior to that they told me to shut the window and they would reduce the set point of the room stat - without a/c this would of course never work well, if at all. There were only two other room available, both of which were on the same sunny side of the building and they were not twin rooms (I was staying with my son). I asked Matteo on reception to email me to confirm I had made a formal complaint but I never received one. In the end they told us all we could do was open a window, which we had to and it was very noisy indeed and there were bright lights outside. At one point something went past outside that was so loud and 'powerful' it set off car alarms for the next 1-2 minutes. Furthermore, the room telephone didn’t work which meant I had to go down to reception myself twice and the light in the shower didn’t work. I could talk about the positives of the hotel but I won't, because it doesn't matter what the 'cream on top' is like if the basic night's sleep is unattainable. For the record, I am a Diamond member of Hilton and have NEVER complained about one of their hotels before, but this was totally unacceptable. Food and drinks were good and the selection of gluten free food available was excellent - such a shame the basic product was so flawed. To cap it all, Hilton surveyed me and asked if I wanted someone to follow up. I said yes, but it's no surprise I've had no contact at all.

Response from Lingotto Hotels, General Manager at DoubleTree By Hilton Turin Lingotto
Responded 3 weeks ago
Dear Mr. Parsons, I would like to express my thanks for taking the time to bring your concerns to my attention, writing about your experience at the Double Tree by Hilton Turin Lingotto on Tripadvisor. I am deeply sorry to learn about the issues you experienced during your stay and I want to underline that the record you reported doesn't reflect our quality standards. I also regret that you did not accept any room move, giving you the possibility to feel comfortable and to let the maintenance department check the technical problem of the room you had more carefully (that's why it was suggested in a very ordinary and trivial way to open the window); regarding the type of room, twin instead of king bed, we could do a change on the assignement of the rooms still remaining to arrive. Since you are Hilton Honors Diamond Member, we will contact you privately on your e-mail account, in order to offer you extra Hilton Honors points, as compensation for the issues you experienced. I do hope that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Double Tree by Hilton Turin Lingotto in the future. Kind regards. Lucio Bertoncello Brotto - General Manager

The hotel is great! Spacious and clean with nice facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful. Connected to the Lingotto Mall with museum and shops. Local neighborhood has some places to eat and Eataly. For those concerned about location, the metro takes you to the city center and major tourist sites after a 5-10 minute walk and short 10 minute subway ride. Overall very nice stay and would visit again!

The hotel is very interesting, housed in the original 1915 FIAT factory in the Lingotto district, the rooms were very large and modern (huge ceilings). Breakfast was great as well. Hotel is a little outside the center of city, but there are many attractions and restaurants nearby (the original EATALY is across the street).

It was a musty smell in the room. We didn't know what it was at first and then later found there was black mold in the air conditioner. As we always came back to hotel very late and were too tired but considered black mold wasn't good to health so we changed our room after 2 days. Another problem was the check-in was not based on "first come first serve". We were refused to be served and were told the checkout person after us always have the priority. Even we only took the front desk 1 min for just collecting the room key at check in time 3pm. We queued first but served the last because the front desk said checkout always be the first to entertain. It was an unfair check in system. I gave comments to the email asking for feedback after the stay but no one respond. We totally spent 4 nights here because we had a full schedule and didn't have time to change hotel.

Working in Turin for three days and freezing weather meant that the need was there for something beautiful, relaxing and well-resourced. This Hilton met all those needs and surpassed expectations. Stunning architecture of Renzo Piano has transformed the old Fiat factory into an amazing complex. Soaring ceilings, ample light, polished wood and exposed metal creates a stunning impact from the first moment. Bauhaus in your face. Staff are superbly professional, well-informed and unobtrusive. This is a place to savour and enjoy at every level. Accommodations were superb, large room with excellent amenities and a really wonderful shower. Breakfasts are fantastic - abundant and fresh food and extras. At night the bar does some really interesting cocktails. Service throughout was effortless and thoroughly professional. Slightly outside the city centre but public transport is excellent and taxis plentiful. The neighbourhood is worth exploring. A great experience. Prices during my stay were somewhat elevated because of the international ATP tennis finals nearby. But it was still great value. This is a gem and a great venue.

The staff was excellant and so helpful. The bed was so comfy, the view was just what I expected........Visited the roof top, and ticked a BIG one of my bucket list as a massive Italian Job fan. The breakfast was gorgeous and the cocktail bar was amazing, didn't expect the extras that came with the drinks....

I’ll start with the good things, the staff. The staff are all very lovely, kind and very helpful. Breakfast gets busy and they really do work hard to clear tables and get everyone seen to. The beds are comfortable, a flat sheet a duvet and another flat sheet on top, does mean that your bedding ruckles up a bit but not a big issue. The not so good stuff. Odd numbers overlook Green Pod which has a rooftop bar so noise travels and it can get quite noisy so if you’re planning on enjoying an open window ask for another side. Shower water pressure isn’t great but that might have been just my room. The air conditioning. Oh my lord. Europe in general is a nightmare in summer. Aircon is on a centralised system that they keep at a temperature of between 25-27 degrees. I had to ask reception to change my air con temp as it was hotter in my room than outside. I was given an hour to cool down then back up it went. Bring a handheld fan, you’ll need it. The internet. If you’re planning on Zoom meetings or watching anything online forget it. The internet is painfully slow and some days you couldn’t load anything at all. For an international hotel this could be much much better. Location is decent, supermarket around the corner and attached to a mall which isn’t great but lots of fast food places. I’d not stay here again, certainly not as a tourist, given how much you pay I’d expect to A have aircon and B be able to choose my own temperature.

Beautiful hotel in part of the old Fiat manufacturing plant. Gorgeous design. Our king sized room was huge, gorgeous bed and fantastic bathroom which would typically be found in a more expensive hotel. Really helpful customer service. Good quality food. Probably the best hilton we've stayed in, in years.

The hotel is located in the former Fiat factory building. The design of the hotel is super impressive- everything that you can expect from an Italian car design capital or even more. Despite its not in the city centre, it’s still an exciting location as the building and surroundings are full of history of Fiat and car industry. We got from reception complimentary tickets for visit to Fiat test track located on the roof and the marvelous automobile museum is just 10 minutes walk. There is a shopping mall and a nice food market restaurant located just round the corner. The breakfast is excellent. We ate once in the restaurant and it was also very good.

We have just spent 4 nights here and cannot fault this hotel in any way. The design of the hotel is lovely and modern with great high ceilings, open plan spaces and still in keeping with the original Fiat factory. The racetrack on the roof makes it quirky too. Breakfast was of really good quality and offered a great selection of cooked, continental and sweet treats. All the staff at breakfast, in the bar in the evening and on reception were so welcoming, friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble and the bar man was funny and chatty which was nice. The rooms are large and have all the amenities you need. We were on the top floor. We would recommend using the rooftop pool in Greenpea across the road as it’s well worth the money to chill out after busy days exploring the city. We also took a train to Milan for the day which only took an hour. Turin centre is so easy to access using the metro. It’s only 6 stops and takes literally a few minutes. The large shopping centre next to the hotel is really handy and we dined across in Eataly twice too. Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough as a great place to stay when visiting Turin. Also, Turin is a beautiful city with plenty of cultural things to see and do as well as great shopping and lovely cafes around the main piazza’s. We liked that it wasn’t as busy as some other Italian cities we have stayed in.
