Set in the perfect location with a warm and friendly greeting when we arrived. The breakfast was lovely and tasty and the rooms were spacious, clean and cosy. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend the RIB speed boat trips and the trips to the puffins and volcano on the island. A lot of rich history and wildlife to be seen here, we loved our stay! I would recommend Tanginn restaurant for great food and service too.

Stayed two nights while on the island. Adequate rooms. No elevator. Nice that floor had a medium size fridge to keep food in. Grocery store is block away. No one mans front desk, but keys were there on arrival. A few blocks away from ferry. Standard breakfast. Rooms had tv which was not always the case in stays in Iceland. Limited parking but was able to find spots on the street.

My family really enjoy our stay at Hotel Hamar. We had family room spacious and very clean. If you take a look you can see it isn' a new Hotel, but you will see how clean everything is. In Vestmanneyjar you don't have many option if you need Hotel, special in summertime. We was quite lucky when we got our booking confirmed. Staff is friendly and are doing good job, breakfast is simple and good in spacious dinner room. We was in short distance from almost every interest thing in town, and perfect to take tour with Viking Tours local company with perfect guide. All restaurant within 5min walk. Ferry Herjolfur 3min away. I can recommend this hotel because how clean it's. That's sign of good staff.

Lovely little guesthouse, we had a really nice family room, everything was clean and crisp and we had a really nice night's sleep with the blackout curtains and peace and quiet! The breakfast was great and the staff was really helpful, ready to give us tips on restaurants and fun activities in the area.

We spent one full day on Westman Island in Heimaey and stayed here at the Guesthouse Hamar. We left our car and most of our luggage at the ferry parking lot (very safe) and brought just enough gear for our one night stay. The ferry from the mainland arrives right downtown and it was a very short walk to this hotel. We were greeted by two very accommodating staff members and allowed to check-in and go to our rooms early which in turn permitted us to get to our scheduled tour of the island on time. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable; about all I care about when I spend so little time in the room. Breakfast was included but we missed it because we were warned of a possible weather issue for the ferry trip back to the mainland by our host. She came to our room around 10:00 pm to help us decide if we should take the early ferry and then told us we could help ourselves to breakfast before we left even though the staff would not be around. She was great and it was nice to be helped and trusted. I do not know if I’ll ever get back to Westman Island but if I do I’ll be sure to book a room at the Guesthouse Hamar. Worth every penny. …

We stayed here one night and it was fine. The room was spacious with a nice view. I had a little trouble book and had to book and rebook due to price. It was hard communicating with the hotel about this to ensure we were alright to stay there. Upon arrival I know why, the people that own it do not speak English. The person behind the desk is a relative and one of the few that only speak English. Common on the island here. The islanders are a bit more gruff we found. The hotel is in town, walkable from the ferry. They were still cleaning when arrived but let us leave our things. There is a fridge in the hallway if you need to keep things cold - but use at your own discretion. They did have the best blackout curtains of our stay in Iceland (over 16 different places). They got it. We had our one-year old and it was so much easier to sleep with great curtains. Breakfast was great. Our daughter loved the little pancakes. They also brought out a highchair and some toys for her to play with.…

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Hamar Guesthouse. The room was spacious, the people very nice, the location perfect - one block from the harbor - but still very quiet. We did have a car so getting around the island was very easy.

I had been looking for few days for a room but everything fully booked or to big for just me and expensive and finally I found this and I booked here a room for 3 nights BUT I sent a mail asking if they had any available rooms for this three days because I was coming for a football tournament that my daughter was playing on and they had a room for me . I got a confirmation by email that I had a booked room after asking for it I booked this in Mars and in may I replayed the same mail asking if the room had double bed or 2 single and I got the answer both and when I came to check in there was no booking and the lady (the owner i think) went in the computer to read the emails and excuse she gave because it wasn't booked was because i didn't answer the last mail that was the answer to my question after getting a confirmation from them I didn't think I needed to call to check if everything was okay so she said that she only had the 1 and 3 night available but not the second but she said she would figure something out and take care off it there was nothing sorry it's my mistake or nothing so next day when I came to ask what they were going to do about it they offered me instead to sleep in this creepy box (see in pictures) i was really not happy about this but I didn't have time to deal with all off this because my daughter is playing and I didn't what to miss it so I put my stuff in the car and was thinking about going with the last ferry back and coming with the first in the morning but the i would have missed the first games in the morning so I got a room at a different hotel which was more expensive but there was nothing else for me to do because I was not going to sleep in this box in a room with lot off other people and later that day I came to tell her that I found another room and was not coming back she just said wonderful and I said the I just couldn't take this and is was really not okey how everything ended upp and she was really rude and did not care and like the day before it was just my fold not hers I don't recommend this place …
