A private seaside resort adjacent to Varkala Beach. Each independent wooden cottage is made in the traditional Kerala style and has unobstructed views of the Arabian Sea, with private verandah, comfortable furnishings and en-suite facilities. Our multi-cuisine restaurant, raised on coconut stilts, affords glorious views of the Kerala coastline. Private and spacious gardens provide a secluded environment for a relaxing holiday. Amenities include Ayurvedic treatment, yoga, internet access, travel desk and money exchange.
Tried Blue Lake, because it is recommended by the "rough guide" - "South India & Kerala". I asked for a quiet cottage and how the manager promised - got a very quiet cottage. As wake up call is 5:30 am (left hand side a mosque, right hand side a mosque) I went to bed at 10 pm. But the distance between my cottage and the kitchen of the restaurant was only about 1 meter. With all the shouting in the kitchen I got a feeling my bed would be standing in the middle of this kitchen. Really thin wooden walls. Only shortly before midnight, it finally became quiet. But not for long. There was heavy barking by dogs during the night. There are a several wild dogs near and within resort, which are always pretty quiet during day time, but which can be very noisy at night. The only thing what made me happy in the end, was that I only booked and paid for one night. Fled the place next morning. Pretty expensive compared to similar places. But have to admit, that my experience would maybe have been better, if I had got a cottage farer away from the kitchen and the open space restaurant and if the barking dogs were farer away from my cottage. All cottages seem to have the same price, but can mean good and bad nights.…

The only really good thing about this resort is the location, as it is right at the beach front. However, rooms are quite basic and ordinary, especially for the price they charge, the service is lethargic, and the food & service at their restaurant is awful to say the least. Stay here only for the location but do not expect much anything else.

Lovely no frills resort located on Odayam beach. Perfect setting away from the hustle and bustle of the cliffs but close enough to get there quickly with an auto ride in a few minutes. Lovely staff and a popular restaurant on site which is often frequented by residents from other resorts nearby. The accommodation was comfortable and sufficient for what we needed and those looking for an affordable option will be fine but it’s not hotel standard. Location is superb being on the quiet Odayam beach and a lovely setting to relax in.

The good thing about this resort is the awesome view! You can sit in the garden for hours or walk in front of the seashore boulders. The sea-facing cottages are otherwise small, smelly and dark for their price. The floors were very dirty, the mats were so dirty that I had to wash my feet every time I stepped on them and the toilet was not very clean. The food is slightly above average and overpriced for the variety. The grilled chicken was like rubber. The breakfast platter that everyone talks about came in cold with soggy slices of bread. ONLY, the Chinese food was good. Choose them from the menu. There is no geyser to bathe, we got half a bucket of warm water from the kitchen after waiting for 1 hour, but the AC works fine. They have parking spaces if you are driving. The staff and manager are very cordial, though, despite their limitations. The manager suggested some places to see nearby. …

one of the finest places to have your food freshly prepared and served in entire Varkala and Edava. I won't comment on stay .. since i didn't stay there this time but KUDOS to Kamal for excellent food and joyful memories of Happy Stomach. The View ... the food and if combined with an excellent stay .. makes all the difference....though i stayed 500 metres away at Maadathil and Kerela cottages.. but would high recommend kerela cottages for better pricing and view and stay .. over maadathil.... though for a limited options light breakfast you can have it at maadathil cottages but if you wish a comprehensive... diving into your taste buds .. then there is nothing better than fooding at Blue Water Beach Resort...for overall time spending awesomeness.

We landed in this property by chance as we had some issues with the resort that we had pre booked. Arun at the front office was very helpful and accomodative. We were lucky to get the cottage with the best view. The resort has one of the best sun set views. The cliff is around 2-3 kms away. The staff is very helpful, though they can add a few more items to their menu, specially for Breakfast. We had a very pleasant stay, special shout out to the kitchen staff.

Amazing sea view and polite staff .... We have planned for one night and extended for three night that's the experience we had here. .. No other resorts around this area match this one with the same price. If anyone wants to enjoy the sea view and relax , this is the right place( you don't have any activities to do, Sea is rough at this time.) . All the cottages gives the sea view but the first one opposite to reception gives the best . The open restaurant tables are in front this cottage so you may have less privacy but that's ok for us since it was the nice view from this room. The staffs are really nice and friendly . Cons: You don't get many options in the food . As the kitchen is small but the taste is good.

The garden resturant is simply so relaxing at all times of the day, we were staying near by but loved the restaurant ambience. Had coffees in the morning, lunch snacks or light meal, then a sundowner after a swim and great evening meals too. Jack and the crew are so friendly and so willing to help. For veggies, great choices on the menu, so my wife liked it. Great fish and meats too so I was very pleased. I loved the simply made tandoor oven. Each time we came here we had a good time, this has been over the last couple of years now. It can get busy but hey life is good and a wait here is hardly hardship, as a refreshing drink is a great way to work up an appetite. Forget formal dining. Here you get wonderful memories, great tasty, fresh food and friendly service, they are all made here. The sunsets and the sea are truely awesome too. Dining in nature is so much nicer.…
