This was the third of three hotels we stayed in during our 6-day Iceland tour with Trafalgar Tours. Not overly impressive from the outside but very comfortable and well appointed. As with the others, staff were friendly and wanted to be helpful. The room was quite nice and the beds, while narrow by American standards, were comfortable. There were enough pillows and towels without having to ask for more.

5 star review for Agnes alone! She was beyond helpful with check in, used her own phone to call about an issue with our car and got our room switched when there was an issue. Beyond that it’s a great place to stay before or after a South Coast visit. Right along the river, breakfast is great and the restaurant had a good dinner for a rainy night.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for a few days as part of our trip to Iceland. We enjoyed our stay, the rooms were comfortable and my wife liked the spa. The breakfast was a very comprehensive buffet, one minor point is that the "hot" food section was sometimes a little cold by the end of the breakfast period so I'd suggest the management might want to look at that. We dined in the hotel restaurant a couple of times too and though the food and service was of high quality. We also found the hotel staff very professional and friendly, and were a credit to the hotel. I can't think of much to criticise, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels over the years. We both liked the hotel and we'll probably stay there again if we travel to Iceland another time. Iceland is a very sparcely populated country outside of the capital, and some hotels are very remote so we liked that this hotel was in easy walking distance of Selfoss itself and its various attractions.

First of all, we recommend skipping Selfoss and either going straight to Reykjavík if you are headed west or to Vik if you are headed east. Selfoss was the least appealing town we visited during our trip to Iceland (Reykjavík, Vik, Jokusarlon and Selfoss). For the most part, the restaurants were very average and not comparable to the ones we visited in the other cities. The hotel itself is extremely dated. Reminded me of a pre-glasnost, state owned guest house in the former Soviet Union. Rooms were strange. They were all decorated with different furniture, lighting, faucets, etc. Seemed like the hotel took parts out of a surplus bin and installed whatever parts they had into each room. The hotel room itself was clean, so no issues with the room. But there is simply nothing charming about the hotel. It feels like something that was built to accommodate tour buses bringing boat loads of people. The dining room felt like a convention center conference room. Breakfast was decent and included but nothing special. Every hotel in Iceland seems to serve the same stuff, scrambled eggs steamed in a metal container, bacon, beans, sausages, oatmeal, cereal, an assortment of carbs, fruit and salad. A few, including Hotel Vik offered smoked salmon, which was amazing. No clue about the other hotel options in Selfoss. But if there is a way to see Strokkur, Gullfoss and Bruarfoss as a day trip without staying overnight in and around Selfoss, we would recommend it. Of the four hotels we stayed at, we would rank Hotel Selfoss as #4, while keeping in mind that it was also the least expensive of the hotels where we stayed.

Dated hotel but comfy beds. The room was fine but nothing to write home about. No slippers available which is not expected at a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was fine with loads of choices also healthy ones. All on all it was all a bit odd to be honest. I guess that I would not choose to go there again.

What a beautiful place. Beds were incredibly comfortable with a beautiful view, bathroom was modern and sleek, breakfast was a great buffet, plentiful even with lots of people traveling through, and the spa was to die for. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer and enjoyed another day at the spa!

We were on a Nordic Visitor tour to complete the ring road and this was our 2nd night of the trip. This hotel was very pretty, and the room was awesome with a view of the water. It was also close to a pretty cool supermarket (which I always love to take in during international travels), and walking distance to many other things. The food and service was superb. And let's not leave out that there was an ice machine. Trivial to most perhaps, but I loved completely filling my water bottle the next morning and it lasted for a couple of days. We will be back.

This hotel is dated and in poor condition. The elevator was broken, the spa had no sauna working-and they charge extra for the spa, the room had cracks in the ceiling, chips on the sink counter, a tiny shower that took 10min to get hot water, and pain pealing on the balcony. Yuk!!! Try to find somewhere else to stay!!!
