Detailed Reviews
I spent one night at the Glidden House during a recent multi-day motorcycle trip of PA and OH. I wanted to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The NFL Draft was also in Cleveland so most accommodations were fully booked downtown. I booked the Glidden House and was totally happy I did. The hotel is located in a very nice part of Cleveland surrounded by schools and museums and also close to Little Italy and bus/train to town. The Glidden House has on-prem parking which for a motorcycle traveler is a welcome option. Checkin was great, the staff was super nice and helpful and I was given a room upgrade to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. The room was comfortable , clean, and had great light! The hotel provided a basic breakfast buffet (as this was in covid times) and was good. The bar at the Glidden House was a nice spot to have a drink and the bar tender was awesome. I slept well and really enjoyed my stay. I thank you and hope to return soon!

This is the second time we have stayed at Glidden House. When we arrived after a day in the car, it was so pleasant to have James, Glidden's concierge, come out and greet us, offer to help with our luggage, and give us tips on things to see and do. We stayed in a King room on the second floor and the bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was quiet. We slept very well. We were disappointed to find that because of Covid the excellent breakfasts we had on our first stay had to be pared back. I love all the artwork in the hallways and how fresh everything smells. Front desk staff and the bartender were all genuinely friendly. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in Cleveland.

+1
The location is great and the environment safe. It is located in a historical building which gives it a certain charm. Definitely not your typical modern cookie-cutter hotel. The room was very comfortable. The bed is very high but it did not bother me. Hot water in the shower was somewhat limited in the evening, but not to the level of being uncomfortable; I guess it is part of the older infrastructure (in the morning it worked fine). The AC always start it's run by 15 seconds of cold air, even if you set it to hot, but again it was not a big problem. Breakfast was good. Not much different than what you will get in other hotels but the arrangement, dishes and the venue added to the experience. Definitely recommended if you are looking for an experience different than your usual Holiday in Express.

The location of these accommodations was surprisingly lovely being surrounded by art, architecture and the university. It was a pleasant distraction from our intended business in Cleveland.
The room was adequate, clean and relatively quiet, though a few less decorative pillows and bolsters would be more hygienic as their storage while using the bed was problematic given scant chairs.
However, upon returning home I noted, in addition to the room rate, an additional charge on $10.80 on my credit card. Curious, I tried to reflect ‘what could be worth $10.80 that I may have used inadvertently?’ The only thing I could deduce was the use of two bottles of water provided next to the “free” coffee(?), typically provided in hotels/ motels now. I do not use tap water to make my coffee in accommodations other than my home.
My suggestion to future patrons is check with the front desk before touching anything you didn’t bring for your stay!!

Stayed here for a Saturday evening with other family members for an event at Case Western. Had high expectations for the hotel as I have heard good reviews by friends but unfortunately ended up disappointed.
Experience started off poorly as I was harassed by a person/beggar in the hotels private parking lot asking for money. Made me feel unsafe coming back to the hotel when I went out later in the evening. Parking lot needs to be much better monitored as this should not be the way to be welcomed to a hotel!
I booked a suite room for a queen bedroom and a pull out couch in a sitting room (was told it would accommodate 4). The room was extremely small for a suite. Would never be able to sit w 4 adults in the sitting room. The pull out couch was smaller than a twin bed and in no way could the room accommodate 4 adults for sleeping. Of note, a family member of mine also booked a suite and paid the same price and was given a much MUCH nicer room. The hotel should not be charging the same amount for rooms with such discrepancy.
Breakfast was included in our stay. Breakfast room was very cute and charming however did not seem to have enough staff to manage the breakfast. Waited 10+ minutes for coffee mugs and bowls. Buffet was continually running out of food.
The hotel is a perfect location for events at CWRU and while I will be attending more events at Case I likely will not be staying in this hotel again.

We stayed at Glidden House just after they re-opened in June 2020. We talked to a couple of people before coming to Cleveland and they reassured us that there were not too many guests expected, they would be cleaning the common areas and rooms extra carefully, the check- in would be contact-less, etc.
We upgraded to a suite and were disappointed to find that there was trash in the bathroom and sitting room and the bed was messy. The phone in the room wasn't working so we had to go back down to the reception and they moved us to a less desirable suite. The only response we got about why the trash was in the original suite was that it had not been cleaned since they closed down in March. Really? We thought they were cleaning extra carefully???
The reception staff wore masks but we also saw cleaning staff and a bell boy not wearing masks. And there was a wedding at Glidden house on the last day we were there, with many people around, and not one wearing a mask. Given that we went to visit an elderly family member in Cleveland who was with us at Glidden house, we were glad to be leaving so he didn't have to be on the only elevator with 5 people who were not wearing masks.
Disappointing.

My wife and I had stayed there a few times in the past and enjoyed the stay, this time we booked a mansion suite to celebrate our anniversary.
Unfortunately this will be our last visit, to start the room had a musty moldy smell like it had been closed up for months, also the room was not clean the bathroom sink had a quarter inch of dust and just not what you expect for a 250 a night room.
Also the breakfast used to be delicious and we understand with the current situation things are different but the breakfast came in a box and consisted of an individually wrapped blueberry muffin you can get at speedway for .99 a nature valley granola bar, speedway 1.09 and cup of blueberry yogurt and a bottle of orange juice if you wanted one.
The worst part of the night was the room next to us was full of people partying all night slamming doors yelling in the hallways even after a call to the front desk from our cell phone because the room phone wasn’t hooked up,they continued.
So in the morning when I spoke to a manager she said they had to send people up to the room twice last night and no one would answer the door. She did take off 100 dollars off the room but that was not enough to make up for all the troubles. It’s really too bad because the location is great and there is a great French restaurant within walking distance.
But that was our last trip to the Glidden House.

The dining area and the sun porch are beautiful. It's a great location, near University Circle, in walking distance of the art museum & good eats on Euclid Avenue. The staff couldn't be nicer. The only problem was the room itself, which felt like a pretty average chain-hotel room. We could hear the people in the next room even when they were talking at a conversational level. Towels were almost sandpapery. And this is the first time in memory in any hotel anywhere where we were given one bar of soap to be shared between the sink and the shower. I realize it's a small thing, and I realize times are hard in a pandemic, but it felt symbolic of the averageness of the experience. It's also possible that the sound problem isn't so bad in the original part of the hotel; we were in what appeared to be a later addition.

This is a overrated and over priced two star place, probably not ever a two star.
1. Pictures are highly deceptive. Our room did NOT look like what’s in the picture at all. It’s super small and everything is extremely outdated, missing pieces on furniture, falling wallpaper. The bathroom is DISGUSTING. I wonder if they ever cleaned it, the shower curtain has a strong odder that lingers. Bathtub drain is clogged pretty bad too, I had to stop the water every 2-3 minutes while I was in there so that the water could have a chance to go down.
2. The wall is paper thin, you can hear everything from your neighbor and people on the hallway very clearly.
3. The AC unit in the room is the loudest I have ever seen, like a plane taking off! It’s impossible to sleep with it on at night, but they only give you a thin blanket, so it gets cold without heat at night.
4. There was no housekeeping “because of COVID”, per the staff, but they had no problem having large crowds gathering in the lobby.
5. Parking is a trick. At check-in, the front desk staff made it sounds like parking is complimentary, but it is not. There are plenty of street parking right outside the building that are free overnight, not really worth parking with them if you are not around during the day.
This place advertises itself as “historic and boutique”. That shouldn’t translate to “room is rundown”. There are plenty hotels that position themselves the same way but are able to maintain the authenticity/historical vibe and offer great services and amenities at the same time.

The beds are terrible. Platform beds do not need a box spring, unless the point is to bash your knee on it constantly. The mattress are old, hard and springy- very uncomfortable. They started vacuuming at 9:00 a.m.on a Saturday! Inconsiderate for guests that arrived late. Rooms should be updated, no fridge or microwave. Not worth $200 a night. I’ve stayed at nicer super 8’s
