I stayed here a week in November '16 in one of the self catering apartments (not the hotel). A great place to stay if you have a car but otherwise quite out of the way up from sea level. Great view from apartments facing the sea. Very clean and staff in the hotel were lovely and very helpful. The apartment was quite basic and probably not enough utensils & pots etc provided for more than 2 people but I imagine they could have provided more if asked. Tv didn't work but then I didn't go there to watch tv so didn't bother reporting it. The nearest store was about a mile away (shut Sundays) and fine walking down but walking back up with bags of groceries was a pain and apparently I wasn't allowed to eat in the hotel restaurant which was for hotel guests only and a bit annoying as I arrived on a Sunday and therefore the store was closed. Pool was very clean as were the grounds. If you have transport then I would recommend it.

I was There lást weekend for the second time and it has not changed a bit. Yes it's somehow hard to find but what is easy to find in la Palma? .... (Absolutely nothing, not even easy to go back to the airport without driving some extra km) Yes the hot water run out after 5 min shower.....(they should change that) But it's cheap, clean and very quiet; close to everything and surrounded by woods... Perfect for anyone who is not gonna spend the day in the hotel and plans to go discovering this amazing island.

My husband and I spent one night here and I implore anyone thinking about booking this place to reconsider. (Please, travel just 10 minutes up the road and stay in Santa Cruz instead). It costs 100 euros a night to stay here in a sad, depressing, soulless little box. Absolutely no effort has been made with these rooms to make them a pleasant or comfortable place to stay. Considering the price it costs to stay here I think it is quite unacceptable that the rooms do not have wi-fi, and the kitchen has no toaster, no corkscrew, and only very basic cooking utensils. In addition to all this, our toilet was broken so we spent the night listen to the sound of running water and we had no hot water in the morning. Please please please do not stay here, you will regret it for the rest of your holiday.

We stayed in room #1 which had a horrible, strong smell of mould/fungus. We arrived very late and checked out very early before breakfast in order to reach our flight on time. If we had arrived earlier we would have found another place to stay. Furrthermore, the room was not cleaned properly.

I stayed here the first night after arriving by plane in the evening. I came to La Palma (and other islands) to cycle around and it was actually the only overnight stay I booked upfront. I choose this hotel/appartments because it looked good from descriprions and reviews, it was relatively close to the airport (6km.) and very cheap (I only paid EUR 22,- (self catering) in December). Make sure to visit different apps/sites prior to your booking. Prices may vary significantly! I'm good in navigating, I had a map and a gps, but I still got lost (I cycled 12 instead of 6 km) on my way from the airport to the hotel on this mountaineous island. So as other reviewers say it is somewhat hard to find. You can ask for direction of course, but when it is dark you will find no one outside! So better travel by daylight if possible! That is actually the only negative point, because although I arrived late (11:30PM) the reception was still open and the guy was very helpful. He joined me to my appartment accross the street and helped me with my stuff. Simple, but big and actually very nice appartments with a nice view and very cheap as well. I woke up at night, because it was cold(it was December and not the best weather), but you can warm it; there is a fireplace in the living room, a heather in the bedroom and extra blankets. At the reception there is wifi, the signal is a bit weak and you need to pay for it, I think per 30 minutes, although again the guy helped me the next morning and I did not have to pay... There is a dining room, so instead of self catering, I think you can have breakfast, etc. I would definitely come back here if I would ever go back to La Palma. I think it is great to stay a bit longer so you can also use the pool area...

Room Tip: If you are a cyclist (not many cyclists on La Palma though) ask for an appartment on the ground...

There is only one minus - you need the car. Hotel is located on the hill and even cab driver had problem to find it :) But overall is absolutely amazing place. Lovely view, nice size of rooms, fireplace! - All what you need to cook you will find in the kitchen even coffee express! Nice size pool but cold in December. Perfect places for plain spotters! Amazing view on ocean and airport. And finally price.. so cheap!

the place was difficult to find, as the ferry dropped us around 12 am and the island's signs in general, are not well thought through... nevertheless, we went on south and stopped to ask for directions, after getting a wrong turn. everyone knows the "finca amado" so that made it easy. But definitely need a car to move around! the reception after 10pm is located in a near hotel "brenhas garden", and although we had to phone the night porter, no further probs. The apartment had a small open terrace, french windows, american style kitchen (it did lack basic utensils..), joining the living room by some nice wooden panels... bathroom was pleasant (towel heaters, only shower, though) useful cupboard on the corridor to hide the suitcases and get comfy. bedroom was spacious, love the wooden blinds! comfortable beds gave us a good night's sleep we woke up to a lovely sun rising on the sea and nice views of the valley, with a blue pool right under our noses... had a tv, although we were only home evenings, kept us company paid 95 euros for 3 nights Really worth it!!! felt really sorry the morning we had to leave if back in the island, will repeat

I gather from previous reviews that not many British use these apartments. Hopefully the following will be useful for those who may consider staying in them. My wife and I returned from Los Molinos Apartments, La Palma, yesterday. We have travelled with the Thomson Group every year for several years, five times since last October alone and never had cause to complain. However, Los Molinos Apartments were by far the worst accommodation we have had with the Thomson Group, indeed, the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in from any travel group. When we arrived at the apartment it was musty smelling, as if it had not been used for many months and there were damp patches with powdery flaking paint on the floor greeting us as soon as we opened the door. There were further damp patches and flaking at the top of the stairs, the lounge, bedroom and bathroom. There were no curtains on the bedroom window, which meant we had to keep the wooden shutters and window closed all night to prevent being woken early each morning by the daylight. With no air conditioning or fan in the room this made getting a decent night sleep virtually impossible. The apartment was poorly equipped, with no bread knife, no butter knives, no toaster and no suitable dishes to use in the oven. Not even a cork screw for opening wine bottles. The balcony was a disgrace, with flaking varnish falling of the handrails and other woodwork. When you look up at the apartments from the pool area, all the apartments have the same problem of flaking varnish, giving the impression of a very neglected and rundown establishment. The pool area was dirty, with cat dirt in various places and the three or four waste bins were quite full and smelling, but never emptied whilst we were there. The vast majority of sun-beds were very old, perished by the sun, broken and unusable. As there were other holidaymakers and permanent residents on the site we were unable to use the pool area as much as we would have liked due to there not being any usable beds. As far as the Thomson/Simply Travel description of the area having a restaurant and bar within approximately ten minutes walking distance – this was not the case. We are keen hikers and could not reach a local bar/restaurant for more than 30 minutes. As for their description of the accommodation being for those who like it quiet and relaxed – there are permanent residents with dogs that annoy and disturb you by yapping day and night. They also state “relax in your cane chairs by the French windows” – there is a cane settee, albeit with no cushions, but certainly no cane chairs. When we arrived at La Palma Airport no one had details of our booking and the Car Hire company were reluctant to give us the car which came with the holiday as we did not have the appropriate paperwork from Thomson Group. There was no one at the airport to give us directions to the apartments. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the accommodation and have written to Thomson/Simply Travel to suggest they need to urgently look into the above issues so as to avoid other customers having a similar disappointing experience.
