This is a seriously good restaurant. All the food was excellent, with highlights being tempura vegetables, a great cheeseboard and an amazing dish of sardines and strawberries. The wine was great, and very reasonably priced. The service was charming. Our only issue was that we...ordered a lot of food, and it all arrived too quickly. Otherwise, an excellent restaurant that we would highly recommend.More

Our first real meal in Madrid and what a start. Service was excellent and the food exceptional. Don’t miss this gem but you may need a reservation if you eat as late as the local people. We were lucky as it was just after 20.00....Don’t miss out on the smoked sardines with caramelised strawberries with fig jam and chilli threads!!!More

A lovely little restaurant, focused on local cuisine with a twist. Dining is tapas-style, but most dishes can be extended to a main course. I had the pork belly, mussels and cannelloni. All were exquisite. The staff could not have been nicer, even down to...sourcing a charger for my phone. Strongly recommend.More

So you’re shopping on Gran Vía, and you need a place to escape the chaos and have a nice lunch. But most places near Plaza Mayor are tourist traps or expensive. Look no further: this little gem is tucked away on a side street just...one block from the crowds, and most clients are groups of locals having work lunches. Food was delicious, well priced, and handsomely served.More

Desengaño is an unassuming place with very special food. Fusion would be the best description for the cuisine - a blend of tradition with new ingredients, flavors, and presentations. The vegetable tempura was light and flaky and accompanied with two unique and tasty aioli sauces;...alcachofa consisted of marinated baby artichokes served with scallops and aioli; canneloni became peeled red pepper covering a delicious filling. This fusion and creativity flows through to the desserts. You can have many of these dishes as either tapas or full plates. There's a decent, if not broad wine selection and the service is very good. We returned for a second meal and were as pleased as we were on our first visit.More

We went here on recommendation of our hotel concierge and we were a bit sceptical, because of the hard selling. When we saw it - and it looked nice but not special - we probably would have gone on, if it hadn't rained. It was...a good choice though. A small, creative Tapas menu, both rooted in tradition but with a modern take was all we wanted and it was really very good. We had a great evening - thanks to the food, the service and the wine!More

Although the food is really nice and it deserves a 4-stars rating, I am giving 3 stars because I think there are also many great restaurants in Madrid like this one and I didn't see anything that stood up more here than in any of...the others. Besides, it was a bit expensive in my opinion for the quantity of food they serve, and there was a weird smell all over the place, like the smell of toilet freshener. As I say, the food is really tasty and fancy. This is a place I would go if I am living in Madrid or if I have stayed in Madrid already for several weeks. However, I don't think it's a place to go if you are spending few days in Madrid. I would better go to other more traditional restaurants.More
