Avoid this restaurant if you are English, even if you can speak French! We were served an aperitif then ignored as table after table were served ahead of us. After 40 minutes we walked out. I can't comment on the food as we weren't given...the opportunity to try it!More

The restaurant is located almost opposite Vierzon railway station (parking available in station car-park). The menu offers a good range of options - meat, fish, vegetarian - and is good value.

The owner of A la Belle Etoile recommended this restaurant to me and I am so glad they did, I had the 35€ menu starter, main, cheese and pudding. For my main I had a steak that was cooked to perfection, it was the size...of the plate and melted in the mouth..superb. My starter was thin layers of puff pastry with goat cheese and beetroot cream/jus it was fabulous. My pud was a café gormandise an excellent but I was rather full. The wine list has something for everybody, I had a white Sancerre, a beautiful wine. I highly recommend this placeMore

I’ve travelled around the world extensively and never experienced anything quite like the reception we received here. We’d driven all day and I guess we may have looked a little worse for wear. I asked if they had space for 3 on the off chance...and grudgingly we were pointed to a table in the back. I had my face mask in my hand, I’d removed it to babble my limited French to the maitre d’ and out of the blue a teenage waitress appeared from nowhere while we discussed seating and I was berated for not having my face covered. We were surrounded by diners not wearing masks. The restaurant clearly isn’t air conditioned and it was overly hot, bordering on uncomfortable. The heat was a challenge but nothing compared to the indifference, rudeness and obvious distaste dished out by our teenage waitress who’d been so unwelcoming from the start. The food was delicious, the beer cold, Sancerre very sadly warm and service ice cold! This was not a good experience and I recommend, if you’re looking for a friendly reception and warm service to accompany a great meal, you give this place a miss.More

I have eaten here many times over the years. The head waiter has been here since the very beginning. He is always just as welcoming as the first day all those years ago. The decor is modern and very comfortable. The wine list features well...selected wines and the service is very good. The food is excellent and well cooked. A very good establishment in what would otherwise be a culinary desert.More

Amazing food & service. Very friendly staff and definitely worth a visit. Swat up on your French though, as no English Menu.

A great gourmet meal at a very reasonable price. Started with a complimentary wine and amuse bouchée. Meal all in French and everything we had was great. Not a word of English spoken but the food did the talking. Very friendly patron and staff. Easy...parking at the station opposite. Highly recommendedMore

Food excellent (especially the cold veloute) Service not so as despite advising 3 times no cheese the salad turned up with cheese on it. Not good if allergy involved. This is otherwise a quality restaurant in a drab area so do not be put off...when you approach. Thought very good value for money.More

Had a meal in this restaurant on the recommendation of the proprietor of the guest house me and my parents stayed in on an overnight stop on our way to our gite in the south of France. The staff were very attentive trying their utmost...to help us understand the menu, explaining in more basic French what each of the options on offer were. We were offered a free aperitif on arrival as organised by the aforementioned proprietor of the guest house we were staying in which was a nice touch. We opted for the 26€ menu for 3 courses and all the food we had was fantastically well presented as well as being delicious. The venue itself was also very ambient which basically made our whole dining experience one that I would love to repeat.More

As six seasoned travellers we researched to find a well rated restaurant to dine recently. We had a lovely table outside and we were looking forward to a fine meal. Unfortunately, although capable of pigeon French the menu proved very difficult to comprehend and there...was no English speaking staff to help. Suffice to say three meals were OK, boeuf being extremely tough and hard work, whilst three were inedible for our discerning palates. It can only be described as a plate of offal disguised as a cut of meat, wrapped in a sausage skin. In all an expensive experience unsuited to our taste.More

Read the recommendations in Tripadvisor and decided to pay a visit. I was not dissapointed, on the contrary, my expectations were exceeded! The restaurant offers menus for 26 € (3 courses) and for 30 € (4 courses). The menu was in French and the personnel...couldn't that well English, but we managed anyway. The food was excellent! The restaurant itself isn't that glamorous, it is nice and clean, don't get me wrong, but you come here for the food. If you love good food, this is your #1 place when in Vierzon. We decided to go with the 30€ menu, so we were served first course, main course, local cheeses and dessert. I especially enjoyed the chef's greetings to start with (a nice, sweet anchovies mousse with cheese bread) and the first course, creme brülée foie gras - that was very delicious! They also have a good wine list with local reds and blancs - I chose the Menetou-Salon red (pinot noir). They also have a good variety by glas, or half bottles. This is a restaurant, that goes well for kids as well. However, as with all fine dining, I wouldn't recommend this to kids, who are not used to eat really fine dining, as the dishes might be a bit complicated to some younger citizens.More

Two swallows dont make a summer, but this is the second time I have found an unexpectedly excellent restaurant just opposite a notable railway station. This one was recommended by the proprietor of my B&B as being "the only place to eat in Vierzon", and...while I have not tried any of the others, certainly this one would be hard to beat. We had "saucisse briochee" (anglice, toad in the hole) as a starter: this came with a tasty salad and fortunately bore no resemblance to the English version. For main course I had a respectable piece of cod wrapped in a filo croute and served with roast endives and barley. Which all sounds a little implausible but was a treat for taste buds battered by a long day's journey. The wine was well chosen and reasonably priced; the service was impeccable. I'll be back.More

The restaurant was suggested by our host who took care of the reservation. Maison du Celestin is a Michelin star restaurant, with very good quality both for meals and service. We chose entrecote and local cheese as dessert. If you stop in Vierzon, consider a...meal in this restaurantMore
