Very nice bar in the historical center of Riga, Old city. Kind and professional staff, possible to have many interesting drinks. Prices avarage. No dislikes, liked everything.

I had a quite strange experience in the bar I really liked in the past. During my order all prices were increased by 0.5 Euro and even though I had ordered before I was charged with the new price. My colleague had the same price....While his first beer was 2 Euros (happy hour) he was charged 4 Euros for the 2nd one (2.5 normal price + 0.5 top-up). I understand the beer is no longer 1 Euro, but a Cuba Libre with cheap spirits should not cost 4 Euros in Riga.More

Fun night, bar was quiet as it was a Sunday. But there is a jukebox to choose your own music and the drinks were great value and there was lots of choice!

The French Bar is a great late-night pub (it is the last pub open - until the early morning and is great to stop in after leaving a restaurant or other bar). The pub has the cheapest price of beer in Latvia and has a...young local clientele. HINT: to avoid disappointment like happened to a French couple, this is a Latvian pub with a Latvian staff and customers. Don't expect to speak only French there. I really enjoyed my time spent here.More

We were the only couple in there and the staff were unfriendly, the toilet was blocked and the music wasn’t great. The beer however was cheap during happy hour. Wouldn’t go back.More

I visited “French bar” with my girlfriend and her colleagues mainly because, at around 04:00 on a Monday, it was probably one of the few places left open in Vecrīga. It’s a small place, and I’d never even heard of it before until they suggested...going there; if I hadn’t been led there I probably would have walked past the small stairwell nestled inbetween two tourist shops without so much as a glance. The girl behind the bar didn’t seem the friendliest at first, but she joined in the conversation when invited and was helpful in selecting drinks. Rum and cola we started off with, and it was not too expensive either for Vecrīga prices; more similar to some of the better bars away from old town. Then we moved on to some of the wide selection of cocktails and shots available. Namely, we wanted to try a “Satan” shot for the name - despite the bartender advising against it. Think a Long Island Ice Tea with absinthe; actually it wasn’t too bad. A lot of their drinks contained absinthe, which intrigued me as it’s not the most common drink to find affordably in Latvia. I wouldn’t mind going back to try more, but it doesn’t exactly have the right atmosphere for somewhere I’d make a regular bar to visit.More

Decent cellar bar to visit and have a drink... Cheap beers (happy hour 1.50€), some decent shots and some big screens to watch sports on!

Nice tiny bar in a cellar. Good shots at reasonable prices and the cheap beer is drinkable. Sometimes completely empty so you might want to bring a friend with you.

We popped into the bar on a couple of evenings - Happy Hour 5-6pm - we enjoyed the beers, but there are a vast array of shots and Lauren, the manager, was lovely and friendly. Give it a try !!

Well, an avarage bar in the heart of old town-no vibe. No frech music (but at least good music still) or spirit. Mainly foreigners. Maybe it will be better next time!

This is a real bar in the heart of Riga. It's no-frills atmosphere, and a very friendly bartender (his name might me Igor) make it special every time. There is not food sold here besides some bagged snacks which is a big plus. Their endless...selection of shots and specials will ensure you have a great time.More

I was recommended to visit this bar. Drinks were cheap but due to the size of the venue everyone was on top of each other. The staff seemed unable to control one very rowdy group

Five friends and I went to this bar on a Tuesday night basically for the cheap drinks as we'd been paying tourist prices all weekend! We were the only customers in the bar at about 11pm. The decor is fine, the beer was cheap and...everything was fine... Until three men entered the bar acting very threatening. They were aggravated and were shouting and shadow boxing whilst looking over to us. They pointed at us and gestured they were possibly going to fight us. Even if we read the signals wrong and they weren't going to start any trouble we still felt very intimidated and not welcome. (We were a party of three couples, not a stag do or football hooligans!) the bouncers turned the other cheek so we left very quickly with our drinks! I wouldn't feel comfortable entering this basement bar again!More
