The food here was awesome!! I had the sampler and highly recommend getting that as you can get 3 different items from the “Cafe ale Rue” section.

Wonderful staff! Mary our waitress is fabulous and on point with everything we wanted! Food is absolutely Amazing!!
Had a delicious dinner at this place. Friendly environment and staff. I ordered a sampler which included 3 meals and my wife ordered the caían pasta Parmesan Alfredo with grilled chicken. As desert we ordered the warm pineapple upside down cake which was to die...for. The food was excellent.More
We haff the sweet corn hushpuppies, red beans and rice with andouille sausage, and.... the best shrimp and sausage on creamy grits! Everything here is always great, and yugioh carb tell its cooked with passion and detail. Will always come back!
I'll have to go back for another review; owners unprepared to deal with a solo visitor on valentine's day.More
yes! you are 100% correct. but is this really the fault of the restaurant? specially when people have been reserving a table for weeks since it was Valentines Day. and also note that were a small restaurant with 35 seat capacity. and even after all...More
This was my 2nd visit. The 1st was good but a little too much pepper. This time the gumbo was bitter tasting making me think there was too much file'. Evidently, there is no consistency. Perhaps, they need to post the receipe. Will have to..."doctor" my leftover so that I can eat it.More
I found this place by seeing an ad for it randomly on my Facebook feed and my friend and I thought it looked great and went to try it. It’s a very small little restaurant in a relatively large plaza and definitely something I hadn’t...noticed driving by it while visiting other stores. Right off the bat, I’d definitely say this isn’t a great spot for a huge get together, probably ideal for 1-6 people at most. This is a New Orleans inspired - very southern comfort and very cozy - cafe. Immediately upon entering everything just feels relaxed and welcoming. It doesn’t jam it’s own aesthetic down your throat, it just exists peacefully in the background. The service was delightful, very kind and checked on us while we ate and refilled our waters twice. The prices were great, averaging $9-$14 or so for most meals with generous servings. Overall the experience was superb. The food itself was phenomenal. It was about brunch hours and I saw a breakfast dish that included Cajun grits and a biscuit and I knew that was what I needed to get. It lived up to my high expectations. The grits were creamy and smooth and extremely flavorful while the biscuit was delicious and a perfect accompaniment. Funnily enough the eggs and bacon - nice thick cut bacon - were good as well but despite normally being main components of the dish were absolutely secondary to the grits for me. The whole thing went together great and my only regret is not ordering a mimosa to tie it all together. Definitely highly recommend this place for a great brunch. From the quality of the food and flavor that it packed, despite not having dinner there yet, I’m sure that it would be just as satisfying as well.More
So we came to this restaurant because of the reviews. My daughter had the chicken tenders kids meal. My daughter took one bite of the chicken tenders and stated that they didn't taste right. And they didn't. The chicken tenders were hard, dry and stringy....I asked for a corn dog instead and they said no you will have to pay for that. I had the shrimp and grits with sausage. It was nasty. The shrimp were small and over cooked, grits lumpy and didn't taste fresh. The sausage burnt and dry. The best thing about the restaurant was the service. There was only one waitress who was taking care of all the tables. Hats off to her because she was awesome and it is not her fault that the food is not cooked fresh. Maybe it is because the manager wasn't there that the food was nasty.More
The food was so good! I think this was the best food we had the entire time we were in Columbus. My son had the burger and said that it was the best that he has ever eaten. We visited with the owner and she...was very friendly and nice. Great atmosphere and charm! Very authentic Cajun food. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal. We also shared an order of Beignets for desert. So yummy!! Will definitely be going back if I am ever in Columbus again!More
We are at the cafe la rue with our family while in town for a graduation. Can't say enough nice things about the restaurant. The service and food were both excellent. Highly recommend the gumbo, fried green tomatoes and the pineapple upside down cake (an...absolute must). This is a little hidden gem within Columbus and will be a must our next time back in the area. The food as mentioned earlier is incredible and true to creole food but not so hot that it cannot be enjoyed. One thing... if you are looking for opulent decor, this is not your restaurant. But if you want outstanding food, reasonably priced with excellent service; this is your place. Well done Cafe Le Rue!More
I love Cajun food so I saw this Cafe Le Rue and gave it a try. They were almost at closing time just before 3pm so I went in and they said sure we'll go ahead and get you some Etoufee' The young lady was...very polite and helpful, my I phone was losing its charge so she plugged in my phone and got me a draft beer! She told me not to worry they were fixing to close and in a few minutes my phone was charged and the food was ready to go... I thanked her and was on my way so as soon as I could I pulled over at a nice spot and try the delicious etoufee. It had shrimp and Crawfish and was really good! I highly recommend this place for your Cajun food cravings!More
It's been a couple of years since I was in Columbus GA. So, considering my last experience here, I thought I'd try it again just to see if my first experience was a fluke. NOPE! This place is amazing. Out of all my travels to...New Orleans, this place is as authentic as it gets. No matter what dish you choose (and I've had quite a few since they have a sampler platter) you're taste buds are gonna thank you! It's a small seating venue but also has an outdoor covered patio area. With the mild fall weather approaching, take the whole crew and reserve the patio area for your party! Or inside, there are small tables for an intimate experience for you and that special someone you want to impress.More
After reading many reviews and loving Cajun food we decided to give a try. It DID NOT DISAPPOINT! This is some of the best Cajun food that I have ever had outside of New Orleans itself! It’s a nice looking cozy restaurant...holds maybe 30-40 people....I tried the Cajun combo($16) The 3 items that I picked were the Jambalaya, the shrimp and sausage grits and the red beans and rice with sausage. They were all so delicious that I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite of the 3! Each one was in a small bowl, and the flavor and heat level was just right! If you’re someone that thinks black pepper is too hot for, you then should probably order a burger or something! LOL! It’s not “too hot” for me or my wife...perfectly seasoned in my opinion. My wife had the shrimp and crayfish etoufee ($13)which she absolutely loved and I sampled it a few times and it was perfect! Don’t leave without trying the pineapple upside down cake with vanilla bean ice cream! The cake is served warm and it is beyond delicious! It really is to die for! Melt in your mouth decadence! We also had the beignets! Yea, two deserts is a lot, but it’s so worth it! Served hot and crispy and sinfully good! The next time that we visit Columbus we will of course visit Cafe LeRue again! Give it a try! You can’t lose! Love this place!More
Stopped by for a late lunch. Corn hush puppies are great. Shared a jambalaya which had some good flavor.
After reading the menu, I was undecided but the Sampler was obvious choice to enjoy 3 traditional cajun entres. The key question I ask myself is, would you go back? Absolutely..
