We stopped here after visiting the town of Corfu. The Greek food was very delicious and evidently cooked using fresh ingredients. There was something on the menu for everyone in the family. Would recommend if in the area.

We stayed in a fantastic resort about twenty minutes from Corfu town so after trawling through Tripadvisor looking for the best places to eat we realized that Rick Stein had previously eaten here. If it’s good enough for our Rick then we simply had to...see what he experienced. After getting off the bus Taverna Rouvas is a couple of blocks up on the left hand side just along a side street. Apologies because I only managed to get one photo as I forgot to charge up my phone and it frustratingly died. Rouvas is located on a busy one way street and we were pleased to see that on arrival about midday there were already several tables of locals eating. We ordered a Corfinian Stew and Souvlaki with a salad and drinks on the side Both dishes were excellent and we had change from €40 There were many eateries to choose from but thanks to Tripadvisor we managed to find the best If you find yourself in Corfu you must visit this place Highly Recommended !!More
We heard that Rick Stein featured this place in one of his TV shows. If so he has really good taste. A charcoal fired grill in the window and a display of all the days braised and baked dishes along with a steady flow of...locals picking up lunch all boded well. Rightly so. We enjoyed feta wrapped in filo pastry with honey and sesame followed by pork gyros thinly sliced straight from the rotisserie. All excellent. Nice one RickMore
The only place you’ll ever want to eat in corfu. Truly incredible home cooking, made with love. I could eat here every lunch and probably will while I’m here.
This is The Real Greek food. Mostly locals eats there so you can expect true slow food. Ingredients very fresh, dishes made from the scratch every morning and sold last plate until end of the service.
A lovely restaurant in a very convenient location in the center of town. The food was delicious while the prices were fair and the personnel were all very polite and helpful. Easily the best place to have lunch in Corfu. Congratulations, looking forward to eating...there again.More
Very good food, our best lunch in Corfu. They have a very good service. The personnel was very educated. We eat fish and octopus
Saw how busy this place was from the hop on hop off bus tour so decided to give it a try. We were late in the day so some dishes were not available which was quite understandable ..., but we weren’t disappointed ... food was...excellent . Very large portions ... thought I’d ordered a glass of house wine and got a carafe of house white which was really good. Staff were really attentive and friendly. Will definitely return earlier...because I want to try the moussaka ! Very good value for money too €26 for 2.More
We have just returned to our resort from a couple of days sightseeing and shopping in Corfu Town. This authentic restaurant, was located close to our hotel, just round the corner from Marks and Spencer, and more tellingly, yards from Corfu fish and veg markets....Everything is freshly prepared, there's no menu, you choose fr the pot, and all the Corfu specialities are on offer. From pastitsada, sofrito, pastitsio, chicken in lemon, stifado, green beans in oil, gigantes...all cooking away for hungry locals at lunchtime - not open the evening. We opted for bourdeto, a Corfiot fish stew with paprika and potatoes, and Papoutsakia, stuffed aubergines. Both hearty, fragrant with fresh spices, and utterly delicious. The side salad we ordered was also top notch. No small wonder this place has been visited and enjoyed by Rick Stein. Service was friendly, and prompt, once you figure out that no menu is forthcoming. If in doubt go up to the counter and talk to the staff, and see what's on offer. If you're a lover of real Greek home cooking, make a special trip. Our only disappointment was that we were unable to return the next day.More
Hearty homemade food. We had salad, beans and stuffed aubergine. Nothing fancy but very delicious and filling. The owner took us to the kitchen and showed us the food so we could pick. Not the most scenic view or setting but we didn’t find anywhere...in Corfu town that picturesque really. A safe bet if you’re hungryMore
We found out this little Gem restaurant in our visit this June and it was one of the Best things we did in Corfu. First of all this is a VERY Clean place with very Tasty food very good fast and friendly service and a...very polite owner ready to help you in any way he can. Most of the menu is Greek-Medi food with many local recipes and specialities all very well cooked and served. Low to Medium prices this great restaurant has all you need for a great Lunch with quality food. Works only Day time and if you go late noon after 15:00 dont be surpriswd if most of the food is gone.... Its highly recommended and a MUST when in Corfu for us.More
If you are looking for a place to eat traditional home cooked Greek food away from the usual plain tourist tavernas/restaurants, then this place is a hidden gem. You will know when you are near as the smell of the food will lead you to...it’s doors. Fantastic authentic food and pleasant setting with a relaxed atmosphere. Very reasonably priced for what you have. It certainly won’t disappoint you, as you will become a guaranteed regular.More
If you seek true Corfu cuisine, this is the place to go. Don't expect much in terms of the place but the local cuisine is excellent. In fact most locals go there for lunch.
What a wonderful selection of Greek dishes we went back again and again on every visit to town Different meal every time and never disappointed.
We went to Rouvas on a weekday for lunch. The place reminded me of older times, when we had more of these traditional restaurants, offering cooked food instead of fast food prepared on the spot. No awards for modern interiors here, just a standard dining...room. Service was friendly and very efficient. The waiter took the time to present all dishes in a way that even our kids understood. We ordered fried hake, spaghetti, pastitsada and stifado. Everything was delicious and obviously cooked like our grandmas used to cook before delivery was the trend! Try the stifado, a dish with beef caserole with tomatoes and baby onions!More
