Fabulous evening at West 5 Bar. Excellent performances from Meth, Marsha Mallow and the headline BenDeLaCreme. Despite it being incredibly busy we secured a space at the front of the stage by getting there an hour early. Well worth the wait.
Bar staff all really friendly. Seemed like a well run local club with world-class acts. We’ll be back.
Thanks for the review pleased you had a great time.
What a surprise to have such a good fun night out in the depths of Ealing! The drag queen show was great fun with "Sandra" who was fabulous and hilarious; we had a go at the Karaoke too which was also brilliant with a very talented live pianist who was very supportive and friendly to anyone having a go; we enjoyed the dancing too. There was a real cross-section of people, both gay and straight, young and old(er) and the atmosphere was a delight - so friendly and non-judgemental. And all of this for only £3 to get in and the drinks were cheap too! Just fab! Will definitely be back. Thank you xx
Pleased you had a good night and look forward to seeing you again soon :)
I visited this pub with a close friend of mine, and heard some good things about it due to the occasional drag race star they have. However, when I visited here on a non event day there was 1 elderly man sitting on his own, no music playing and very miserable looking staff. It seemed as though I had walked into a geriatric unit, and it was a Friday night. Gave it a second chance and experienced a similar thing. Please do not waste your time, and do not visit this pub waiting to be closed down. Even as a member of the LBGT, I say they should hand it over to a community that will use the building.
Hey.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us.
Please not we have just had a refurbishment and reopened last week.
It sounds like you visited us early on in the evening on a Friday as it's very rare for us to have a quiet Friday.
Due to our late license and trading to 3am we run more like a night club than a bar and get busy around 11pm.
We have a large pool of acts and have acts from all over the world as you mention and usually they go on stage around midnight. Although the RPDR girls go on around 930pm
We have just renewed our lease and have no plans on going anywhere.
Oh my what an incredible show, it is such a trek from Hornchurch (which I always reference in my reviews Ha) but coming to West 5 is always brilliant👍!
LDF 3 was a blast from start to finish, me & my friend had the mingle Meet n Greet which inlcuded Darienne Lake, Mrs Kasha Davis, Jade Jolie, Tempest Dujour, Derrick Barry, Nebraska Thunderf*#k & Cynthia Lee Fontaine.
Each & every Queen was a complete delight yet so happy to talk with fans (which is something I wish all Drag Race Queens would embrace Meet n Greet experienes!) 😘.
Adore Delano was a separate Meet n Greet but oh my she was worth it 😍.
The show itself was such a diverse powerhouse of Drag Artistry in my opinion, the staging was perfect yet the audience could get involved which makes the experience even more better whilst also being personal ❤.
If West 5 continue big events like this, I will be back no question.
Big shout out to my girl the security guard Lisa for being so welcoming again plus the best sense of humour I've ever seen from a sercurity person, see you next time 😊.
And finally well done to the organisers / management team at West 5 for getting this off ground so successfully 👏!
Thank you!
Very poor bar service and very unpleasant staff overall not a friendly place to visit. ( older chap on door was friendly but that was it).
Smell of damp and water leaking into the bar that leads to the rotten garden.
Would I make the trip again to West 5 - sadly have to say no.
If this was a party night, I hate to think what a normal week is like, did not see one staff member smile and what does that cost... I would say cheaper than a leaking roof I guess.
Went here with some friends who had been before and recommended. As it is local we thought we would check it out and possibly make it a regular occurrence. However after the bar manager behaving like a 12 year old and refusing to serve me and my friends saying we were too "drunk".
This was not the case, we were having a conversation and talking about a guy opposite the bar who one of my friends fancied, as we were giggling he looked at us thinking we were laughing at him.
As i went up to ask one of the bar staff to ask when the rather awful act that was one was due to come off the stage, he abruptly interrupted mine and the bar mans conversation telling him not to serve me as I was "too drunk." Again a false statement. Straight away i corrected him and said I was not even asking for a drink and that even if i was his reason was invalid. He was acting insecure and unprofessional, with non existent customer service.
Me and my friends decided to leave straight away, as we were leaving he started waving at us saying something we couldn't hear.
So if you want to go to a place where the bar manager behaves like he's in a school playground, then this is the place.
Also the act on the night was awful and made everyone run away from the dance floor.
Will not return here and will be passing my experience around to friends. Many other good bars close by they can go to instead of west 5.
Thank you for taking the time to review West 5.
We sorry that the act Vicki V was not to your taste. We have a wide range of acts at West 5 catering to all sorts of customers.
The Bar Manager has the right to refuse service to any member of the public if he feels they are intoxicated. If he deems so they will be requested to leave the venue immediately regardless if they are drinking or not.
Looking at our incident log book it also appears that over the weekend there was only one person ejected following an altercation with the Bar Manager.
You fail to mention that there was two incident earlier in the evening that lead to yourselves being warned about playing with the equipment in the Piano Lounge.
You also fail to mention your poor behaviour as you left the venue. Swearing and making threatening gestures at the Bar Manager and Bar Staff.
This was witnessed by the General Manager and Head Door Supervisor and also recorded on CCTV.
Taking this into account a barring would be in place.
