Had a superb 75 minute tour of Trier in English on the 14 July. Our guide, Judith, was excellent: well informed, easy to relate to and very aware of the need for shade on a hot, hot Saturday afternoon. The tour was the ideal length in the trying weather and gave us several hints for further exploring alone. Well worth the time and minimal fee.

We did this tour in August and I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the whole thing. Our guide's English wasn't amazing and he spoke so quietly it was barely a whisper - an impressive feat considering there were only 4 of us on the tour. The information he provided was really good but it could have been done much better, especially given how fascinating and amazing Trier is as a city.
I always think this is the first thing to do in any city. Gives you a great way to see everything and things you want to visit. The audio tour is very good and you can jump on and off all day. It takes you out to the amphitheatre, Roman baths and the city centre items. It makes all accessible.
This review is related to the City Sightseeing HOHO bus tour and its associated boat tour . The bus tour has 8 stops , lasts 45 minutes non stop and comes at a frequency of 30 minutes . Contrary to many City Sightseeing bus tours , this one does not give a 10% rebate when a passenger shows a receipt for a bus tour bought in a different city. The itinerary is mainly out of the Old Town since the Old Town is mainly a pedestrian area and it is a good way to see the Unesco Roman sites . The commentaries are good but overall the itinerary is no more than average . The boat tour was a disappointment , with not much to see and all commentaries being in German !
I visited Trier on May 23, 2007 along with business colleagues. We travelled from Luxembourg to Trier via train. We returned to Luxembourg the same evening. The morning train ride was very scenic.
We took the local map and decided to take a tour of Tier by walk. We really enjoyed this tour.
Attached are a collection of photographs from my archive.
Ice cream at city downtown (I believe) was very rich and tasty.
