This great little museum is packed with history of the ice making era in Norway and as well as full of various shipping information with displays. If you are in Kragero, Norway make sure and stop there not only for the museum but to enjoy the grounds and the beautiful view of the bay behind the museum.

The history of old Kragerø, a small village by the sea in south east of Norway, is told by several old buildings and a modern gallery with old tools, pictures and means from daily life, situated in a lovely park with access from sea/ private small boats and by cars. This is a very nice place to visit, especially in summertime when it also is possible to have a picnick in the park and a bath in the sea if the water is warm enough, - and the water is very clean!

One can learn a lot about how fishermen and their families lived more than 100 years ago, and how people in Kragerø had their income from the men cutting ice in the lakes during winter, exporting the ice all over the world. Fathers and husbonds stayed away from home for years!
