Terrible experience. Stay away and use at your own peril. While returning car, front desk employee(s) requested more money after car was fully paid. I explained the car was fully paid, as they insisted three days prior upon my receiving the car. Employees requested a copy of the contract for the car, which they never gave a copy of upon original signing for the car. Upon my insistence, they finally found the original contract and determined that the car was fully paid and no money was needed after all. It seemed to be all a scam to try to secure more money. Add general rudeness at the front desk, no upfront pricing, a requirement that you leave a passport or credit card (which they have no secure filing system for and almost lost), and the fact that they did not have the car we had originally reserved available for the first day (yet we paid the same price for a much worse car that seemed to be an employee's personal car) and you have a company you should stay away from at all costs. The owners were communicative by email and text and seemed well meaning prior and during rental, but the total experience was the worst we have ever had with a tourist agency. Hopefully, they become more trustworthy and customer friendly, but until then try a different company to enjoy Vis.
I prebooked 2 tours with this company 3 months in advance. I also paid a 50% deposit. Luckily when I got to the island I decided to confirm arrangements. Nothing had been organised. Use this company at your peril.
My husband and I met Medo when he picked us up at the ferry as arranged by our travel guides. He is a character full of energy. We decided to have him give us a tour of the secret military tunnels and caves. We spent 3 hours with him one afternoon and learned so much about Tito and the island of Vis. He’s a great host and a wealth of information. My husband is former military so this tour was right up his alley. We drive around the 10 km island and enjoyed all of the views along the way. We had such a great time that we rented his car the next day and went in seek of the many awesome beaches the island has to offer. When in Vis, go see Medo. He’s right on the promenade. He rents cars, scooters, bikes and does personal tours. You won’t regret it! For a great video of our day go to Youtube and search channel Jay Creature.
We hired a scooter for the day, it worked, it was slow, not everything worked on it - the speedo didn't work but it got us from a to b. Vis Special are not the slickest operation. They ask you to leave some ID as security so take something you don't mind getting back - we left my wife European Health Card
We came to Vis on a day trip and couldn’t get on any of the tours due to timings. They either started before we arrived by ferry or would finish after we needed to catch our ferry back. So, we hired a scooter for 12 hours and went round Vis island, travelling to Komiza for a wander and some seafood. We then went back via the other road to visit the beach and have a swim. From there back to Vis, a quick visit to St George tower and then back on the ferry.
I rent a 50cc scooter for a day (250kunas/12 hours). At the beginning, people were very nice.
BUT, few kilometers after living the agency, I started to realise problems with this scooter :
1/ broken horn (the button doesn't exist any more)
2/ the left mirror (most important when cars passing on) is not adjustable any more
3/ the left break is very limited
4/ the kick stand is flawed
CONCLUSION : this scooter must not be rented, it doesn't meet the basic security check.
When I get back the scooter, I ask the men if it was the oldest scooter he has, and said yes. I speak about everything and ask to speak to his boss. I spoke to the boss by phone, he was injurious and agressive. and didn't give any interest to what I said about the scooter and isn't concerned about the security of his clients.
DON'T RENT THEM IF YOU DONT WANT TO DIE DURING YOUR HOLIDAYS....!!!
Our worst experience in Croatia !
We rented a scooter through this company. At first they were very friendly, explaining every thing about what to see in the island.
Then, we found out that the scooter had no horn (Klaxon) and the outside mirror was broken. The price was the same that the new branded scooters.
We complained about it. We asked his employee to call the boss. Not only he was unwilling to compromise, but he shouted at us, saying that our expectations were to high...and that we should have noticed and told him sooner. He did not even listen to us. Kept interrupting us saying "I'm very disappointed with you".
We had no pay back !
The next day we rented through an other company that was much better for the same price.
