This is an interesting little museum. It is not large but packed full of information. I went during the recreation of the battle and the biggest downside was that they put the price up especially for this and guides would push you out of the way which is, of course, rude considering you pay an extra 100 rbl. But any other time of year it is a suitable and interesting place to spend an hour.
Not as impressive as Borodino museum in Moscow but probably more "authantic".
The battlefield where the French trrops defeated the Russian army is rather intact even if some WWII bunkers can be spotted here and there. Worth spending a day although the trip from Moscow is a bit long.
